The mother of Shannon Matthews is being questioned in connection with the alleged kidnap of her daughter.Karen Matthews, 32, was arrested in Dewsbury on Sunday night on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and is being questioned at a West Yorkshire police station.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police investigating the alleged abduction of a nine-year-old girl have arrested a 32-year-old woman in Dewsbury on suspicion of perverting the course of justice."

The spokesman said no further details concerning the woman's arrest were expected to be released until later.The arrest comes as it was revealed that Michael Donovan, who has been charged with Shannon's kidnap and imprisonment, slit his wrists while on remand at Leeds Prison.
Donovan, formerly known as Paul Drake, of Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr, was arrested on March 14 after Shannon was found at his flat. The 39-year-old is the uncle of Shannon's stepfather, Craig Meehan, 22.has also been arrested in connection of images of child pornography.
Other members of both familes,have been questioned in relation to Shannons "kidnap "

It's probably one of the most disturbing stories these past 3 months.
At the moment it's difficult to understand what has happened, who is involved and why.
All I can see is that a child has been at the center of it all and I hope that the child hasn't been hurt and won't suffer psychologically from it all. |

The mother of Shannon Matthews has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged in connection with the nine-year-old's disappearance. Karen Matthews, 32, of Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor, West Yorkshire, faces charges of child neglect and perverting the course of justice.
The details of the child neglect charge state that she "wilfully neglected or abandoned" Shannon "in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to her health", between 18 February and 15 March.
The second charge states that Ms Matthews "repeatedly concealed information in relation to the whereabouts of Shannon Matthews in interviews and other contacts with officers with the West Yorkshire Police and claimed to have no knowledge of her whereabouts."
It seems almost the whole family extended is suspected, in some sort of "coverup".
