Post subject: Hollywood`s greatest redwood has fallen

| Charlton Heston has died and I hope that Turner Classic Movies will honor him by showing THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. I also love Chuck`s mid-1950s American-International family feature The Private War of Major Benson. The mighty Charlton Heston must be honored! p.s. some years ago Bill was a guest on Jay Leno with Charlton Heston. There must have been a great chat between those 2 giants in the ol` green room. This is Hollywood`s greatest loss since the death of JOHN WAYNE in 1979. |

The greatest honor would be for a TV network to show Wayne's World 2. Heston was brilliant in that movie. Perhaps his greatest role after Touch of Evil.

Although I agree that Charleton Heston's presence as an actor was indeed worthy of "redwood" status, I cannot say the same for some of his non-hollywood endeavours, specifically, the NRA. But then again, I'm Canadian.
and in an unrelated incident...
Yesterday, as I was standing in line at the grocery check-out, a little boy was brandishing a toy gun. Since at first glance, it appeared real, I nearly had a heart attack. Certainly, the panic I felt and the aqccompanying adrenaline rush at seeing the "weapon" could have given anyone with a heart condition a serious episode.
Had I been in a feistier mood and not in a rush, I would have taken the parent to task. But check out clerks have enough stress/grief doing their jobs without having customers creating even more problems.

This is an erie coincidence! I was reading your post and drinking some Canada Dry! I can prove it, just in case people may have some doubts. Canada Dry, "Since 1904". There's a warning on the bottle:
"Contents under pressure. Cap may blow off causing eye or other serious injury. Point away from face and people, especially while opening."
Now, this is the kind of stuff that gives me a heart-attack! Can you imagine that kid in the grocery store check out with a fully loaded bottle of Canada Dry? Shaking it and pointing it at people's faces?? Never mind the sugar rush of the ginger ale. In the wrong hands, this thing is worse than a gun!! |

More wildness! In Pennsylvania, ginger beer is almost as popular as Moxie! I think we have more simliarities than differences! Kinda like with France and Belgium or Germany and Austria. And I'm still chowing on poutines like they're going out of style! But without the cheese and not frying the potato. I still like to call 'em poutines! |

OKay... but you know... I'm from Quebec and that is NOT a poutine.
poutines are notorious because of the artery solidifying, colesterol raising, waistline expanding... FAT.
by the way, I'm just kidding about the gingerbeer... in Quebec, we drink SPRUCE BEER.

Maybe we can call my version naked poutines?? There could be a great Vito line about now....
Man, I gotta get to Quebec one of these days! Spruce beer! You got me on that one. Does it count that I've spent some quality time in a few spruce trees during the course of my life?
I'll never forgive MLB for what they did to the Expos. The last time I was in Cooperstown, I was praising the Expos left and right. I almost bought an Expos souvenir (French word) but I opted for a Puerto Rico magnet instead. Still have it!! |

Depending on how old the child is, it's possible to tell quite quickly whether it's real or not.
Real hand guns are heavier than they look and not easily brandished by a very young child. The toy ones in the US are usually required to have some sort of flashy paint on the muzzle or entire body of the gun to help with identification. Unless it's an airsoft gun, I think.
Not entirely sure why you wanted to chew the parents out for letting their child play with a toy gun... |

| Even the airsoft guns have a "neon" orange or other flashy color at the tip of the barrel. In the past, that wasn't true. They still make very similar replicas to the AR-15, M16 and the M4 carbines, even down to the slot for the laser sight. I'd rather see a kid with a poutine gun, shooting cheese fries at unsuspecting, random S.O.B.'s like that guy in the movie, The Jerk. "More cans!" |
