I AM!!!!! I have some stoooooooooopid co-workers who insist upon showing up to work knowing full well they are contagious with colds, flu, strep throat, and I heard 1 is in there with bronchitis now. I wouldn't know, as I haven't been to work since last Saturday!!!!
My days off were Sunday and Monday this week, so they don't count. I had a cold then, which turned into the flu on Monday. Everything I ate felt like it was riding in the middle of the ocean in my tummy!!!! Felt a little better Tuesday, but quickly went downhill.
Had a terrible feeling in my chest--like being sat on by an elephant. I have asthma, so I knew that's what was going on, only worse than usual. Used all my inhalers to calm it down somewhat, but by Wednesday, I sounded awful and very out of breath. Mom agreed that I needed to call the doctor and get meds or an appointment. They called in prescriptions.
Mom, having raised 3 of us (she should have gone back to school and become a nurse), picked up my meds and brought them over. Heard my cough in person (over the phone does no justice to anything like that) and decided that I have walking pneumonia. Oh, joy.
So, I haven't been back to work yet. They're going to get an earful Saturday night!!!!! I'm not a happy camper about all of this. We have a horrible ventilation system in our building, and people come in sick. We get sick time/pay, but no one ever wants to use it. The just come in and spread cooties!!!!! Bastards!!!! We also have a filthy work environment--dust everywhere!!! This is from hiring a cleaning company that submits the lowest bid...... yeah, ya get what ya pay for!!!!
Ok!!! I'm off my soap-box now!!!! Anyone want to take my place on it???
Oh!!! Before anyone suggests it, I use clorox wipes on the desk, keyboard, phone every time I sit down. We don't have assigned desks, so you never know which sick one was there earlier in the day. Most of these illnesses are airborne, so maybe I should make everyone gargle with lysol before they come near me!!! Oooops!!! Did I type that out loud???? |

There is a solution, for those days when nothing seems to go right. Just take a couple of these, and everything will be ok.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well At my husband's work people show up all the time when they're sick because some of them are making 25-30 bucks an hour. Pressmen, a dieing breed make damn good money. Secondly, the bosses are weeding out people who are taking their 5 days sick leave every year and take too many comp days, too. They don't care unless they get their paper out every day. This state hasn't missed an edition yet and it's well over a hundred yrs old, I'm proud to say. It runs in the family. My daddy was a pressman, too. But I digress....use a medical mask, most of what you catch floats in the air from coughs and sneezes. Hopefully it'll keep you from breathing it in too much and it makes a handy statement. Draw a tongue on it giving everyone the rasberry. It'll make you feel better. |

Yep, sick and tired of being sick and tired.
It's not just in the workplace. If you happen to ride a bus to work, you're doomed.
Both my son and I have a blood disorder where a simple cold will almost always lead to at least bronchitis, and often pneumonia, and could even mean death. All of our friends know this. In spite of this, when my son was little our friends would often come over, or bring their kids over, when they were obviously sick and contagious, because, "they didn't want to spoil their plans". I'm reasonably sure if either of us would have died, it would have ruined our plans for the day.......
People are just inconsiderate and often uncaring about others. Shame. |

Been there and completely understand. Even when I did the above, the crap floating in the air and people passing by kept the crud going. |

I second and third that yes!!!!!!!
My oldest and her boyfriend were over here coughing and touching everything while some one took me to the store. I had to sanitize everything they had touched, including this keyboard with about 15 pounds of sanitizer....
I was in Wal-Mart and some guy had his grand kid with him who was barking like a seal and touching everything in the store. A lot of people said some thing but he was oblivious to it all and then right as I was checking out, they got right behind ME! I hurried up and moved along keeping the cart between me and the kid who was hacking up a storm I think I came home and sanitized all the clothes and my purse that I had with me and I washed my hands.
Parents who bring a kid in the store like that should be warned to take thier kid back home or wear a mask while in the store...in fact why can the stores hand out masks to those who come in and don't have any thing to cover thier mouths with...They should make it a rule if you and your kids are hacking, wear the mask given to you..... if you don't wear it your not allowed in the store.

We so need that over here!
First round of antibiotics didn't kick it for my husband and he is coughing so hard he's pulled some muscles and frequently falls to his knees. He's going back to the doc today to get more.
Meanwhile, we're taking stool samples for Daboy to start the process of trying to figure out why he's been sick every 2 weeks for the last year.
I've got a slight touch of the cough with the rattle in the chest, but not bad.
GAHHHH!

That will work right up until you hit someone with "smokers cough" and get sued.
I went to the store last night, to get food and medicine for my husband. I was coughing badly enough that I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted to be near me if I saw myself.
However, as I was the least sick one of the house, I was the only one to go to the store. We'd just had payday and I finally had some money to buy some decent food.
As tired as I was, had anyone given me crap about being in the store while sick. I would've blistered their ears. (I was actually thinking about it as I walked around.)
There's a difference between being inconsiderate (I left Daboy at home, b/c he was sick and I had someone to watch him.) and normal day to day activities in a public setting. If you're in a public place during cold and flu season, you're just going to get exposed to stuff.
Plus, usually you're the most contagious *before* all the crap hits...that three day incubation period or whatever. B/c you don't feel sick and don't take *any* precautions.
/can't type today, lots of edits. |

I need those pills!!!!
I met ma and pa at the store this afternoon. Good thing too. I was worn out by the time we were done---someone keeps eating all the food in my house!!!!
I had a couple of coughing fits there. I bent over, shoved the cart handle into my mid section and stuffed my face into my scarf. At least I made the effort to keep my cough to myself. The cart against me helped with the strain on my muscles. I've irritated a couple on my sides already, and across the bottom of my rib cage. Nothing broken yet, though--knock on wood!!!!
Cuzsis!!! Tell your hubby to hold a couch pillow at the bottom of his rib cage, bend over and hug it tight when he gets a coughing fit. Sounds silly, but it does help!!!! They have heart surgery patients do this to keep them coughing and help the buildup of fluid on their lungs. Same thing happens with pneumonia.
Not sure I'm completely ready to go to work tonight, but what the hey!! I'm not contagious--I'm on meds since last Sunday. I have tomorrow night off too. I'm just sticking my toe into the work pool for one evening...
I shall be chastising anyone that comes around me too. If they sound sick, they will be invited to leave my personal space!!! I can't be getting another round of a cold on top of this. I'll probably end up in the hospital--not where I want to be at all!!!! And I do have a couple of breathing masks in the garage. I should take one with me!!! Can't wear it all the time, though. Have to talk on the phone..... Ah well...... |

| I'm not sure if it would help after someone is sick, but I hear that Airborne is pretty good at helping to ward off illnesses. My sister got me some for my air flight to California next month. |

Airborne is a good product for helping your system fight off colds, we use it too and it helps.
What helps even more is B-12 losengers, you put under your tongue to disolve. That helps even more and we take them every day when we travel or are feeling like something is "stalking us". |

Oh yeah gotta love the flavinoids and anti oxidants in the dark chocolate! My kids don't like it because of it's bitter taste.
THe best ones I have tried are the hershey's special dark candy bars. I can't eat the Dove ones as they were processed on the same machinery as tree and peanuts were, and the nuts bother my mouth if I eat them.
