In the last post I saw by Bill, this is a perfect example of technology at work. Man is always striving to make things bigger and better. Perhaps, the practicality factor is being lost in the shuffle.
I'm very good with computers and html is a breeze for me. But, it seems that it would have been more practical to take the board up one step at a time. Instead of cramming it in all at once. I wasn't real keen on any change at all. I liked the old board. And the blue smileys. It was the only board to have them. It was user friendly, and we lost all our on going topics.
Like most technology, I view the new board as trying to keep up with the Jones' and too big, too soon. I know people resist change, sometimes that's a good thing. But, what's done is done. If my eyes don't adjust I guess I won't be coming here as often. I'm getting one really bad headache because my cursor is bouncing around like a rubber ball.
I think this is geared more for the younger generation. They'll probably love it. As for these old eyes.........It's just another board now. It's lost that close knit personal touch that it once had. And the feeling of be close to Bill and Liz is gone too. Except for the Trek BBS. Every board I have ever been on looks just like this one and I don't go to them any more because of it. And it still has a lot of kinks in it. But if Paul is happy then, I am happy for him.
Good luck all, see you around.....maybe,

I just have to say one more thing. When I became a member of the Shatner BBS ( Even the name had a close knit personal touch ), I went over to the Trek BBS and got all my topics and brought them over to the Shatner BBS. For a board with so much technology built into it, you think they could have saved our topics from the old boards. We had some really good discussions and debates going on.
The William Shatner Message Forum, it sounds distant and cold. I feel like I'm in school and he's the Head Master. This is the perfect time for an age old quote, "If it's not broke, don't fix it!"
Technology at work..................................People not needed!

Well, I tried retrieving one of the topics from the old boards didn't go too well I'm afraid. So, all really is lost.
