Just brought some in to place by my brothers image, he loved roses.
These are in the back borders there. My side has 12 of Mr Lincoln and 12 Peace. they go so well together. we have two L shaped borders, and two long borders behind those.
the L shaped border have Hybrids at the back and floribunda at the front . we have over 150 . takes a big effort to prune them:)
pretty hard to grow things in an open paddock but diosma and roses seem to thrive:)

Those are really beautiful! Really nice to see some flowers this time of year, with the weather here below freezing! |

My favorite roses have always been the yellow Gracelands. I had a bunch of them one time but they went back into their natural state, tiny little wild roses. My husband said it had to do with pruning at certain times of the year. Next time I'll get it right |

Dont blame your self, a lot of nurseries, cheat when using the stock root, and dont use the right part of it. My son is a Horticulturist as well as a CEO for the disabled group. and he says that to get a fast result they use the wrong stock cutting. then they turn wild again, after a season of normal flowering.

That's a relief, but at the same time kind of disheartening! I guess it's difficult to know whether any cheating has been done unless a person is a horticulteralist and I'm pretty much a novice. I'd nurtured those roses, battled aphids and black spot, but to no avail. Oh well. I've heard about a couple of years ago that some people have the hobby of going to old homesteads searching for antique roses, the ones that still have the full-blown fragrances. They aren't the ornamentals that are all color and no sent. Antiques that are dated all the way into the early 1800's. I've always thought that would be a very fascinating hobby to have, that is if a person were willing to travel great distances and possibly dodge livestock,i.e. bulls! I've a nose for pretty sents and I'd be in Heaven if I could smell some of those beauties. I don't care for the modern roses at all! |

Those are gorgeous. My friend's dad used to grow roses. My inlaws are into orchids.
I am afraid I grow vegetables better than I grow flowers. |

Beautiful!
I only have two rose bushes and they didn't do too good this year.
I think one of them will have to be replaced in the spring.
