Good point. Like when we removed God from our schools. Look what happened. The biggest problem use to be gum chewing or talking in class. Now, you have to worry about rape, murder, mass shootings, etc. |

Yes, Charles is next in line although I very much doubt the Queen will abdicate unless very ill. Although I really deeply dislike the man, he has not been convicted of drunk driving, fraud etc and is not involved in drafting any laws for the rest of us to obey, so it is a bit different. |
And no doubt all of your other political officials are all white as snow?
It is a very sad fact that celebrity, money and power allow you to get away with many things that the average citizen cannot. This is true everywhere in the world, including the UK. |

Organization?
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line. |
I had also received that e-mail a while back. Hence my comment about monkeys and the price of bananas....... Hey, I'd vote for one......

Of course they're not, but weren't you shocked to see those facts in black and white? You're just being agressive now because I'm "foreign" and dare to express shock. If a fellow American had reacted in the same way, you wouldn't have had an issue, I'm sure. |

Well, yes, except that it's totally different as a) Charles as King will be a purely symbolic figure with no power over our every day lives and b) he hasn't been convicted of breaking the law! Otherwise, brilliant comparison! |

No, I wasn't shocked, as I'd seen those figures before, and I have no idea just how current they are.
Now, if you would have passed up even one chance to express disdain over the US, it's government, it's armed forces, it's citizens, it's policies, etc., then I would have been shocked. And you're right, I have an issue with someone from another country constantly slamming mine. I can't tell you how many times I have walked away from this site because I am sick to death of your comments about the US ~ and I can absolutely, without hesitation, assure you I am not the only one.
I have seen articles, news reports, etc., that show your country in less than a shining light, but I don't feel the necessity to bring them to the attention of everyone else. Partly, because I don't really feel it is my concern, and largely because of respect for people like BWW, Britstarfan, Hart, Claudia (sorry if I missed anyone). I cannot imagine anything less respectful than my needing to goad these people, unless it is your relentless need to go to a site that is hosted by a celebrity who lives in the US, whose family lives in the US, and said site is largely visited by people from the US, and then proceed to insult the US. It is is beyond anything I can imagine. Whether you suffer from jealousy, anger, or whatever drives this need I don't know, or care. I am just bloody sick to death of it. In fact when I first saw this thread, I didn't think of the answers; I only wondered how long it would take for you to see this thread, and jump on it. And, of course, I was not disappointed. Thanks for being so darn predictable.
And with that statement, until you learn some sense of decorum, and come to the realization of just how inappropriate your anti-US comments are, I will no longer answer or respond to your comments. This has become boring beyond belief. |

I'll second what Cat said. I was trying to be as delicate as possible towards the rest of the members of this board residing in the U.K. because I respect their feelings. As to whether anyone thinks my queries are brilliant or asinine I could care less. I just want some honest answers. Like for instance if you could be absolutely honest and put a spread sheet of the lack of integrity in parliament. Let us just forget about the monarchy. You kept overlooking the fact about what I said about NOT knowing anything about your parliament members. That I had to rely on the one person that stands out because of his less than stirling qualities. How am I supposed to know who's all in your cabinets? I'm American and I haven't the foggiest notion nor interest in British politics, let alone mine half of the time. I too am tired of the constant slamming of American politics and officials. WE KNOW our politicians are not sweet little angels with the best of intentions. WE KNOW that most of them have their own agendas and are as crooked as a crack in the sidewalk. WE KNOW. The constant rubbing in our noses is irritating. Constantly irritating. Print a spread sheet of your politicians crimes and misconducts. Fair play and all. And I promise I won't get on another one of my dull soapboxes and say "I told you so". Do us all a favor and do it. I dare you too. And also another thing. You lost your sense of humour somewhere along the way a long time ago. I remember you were quite funny at one time. What happened there? Find it again. Tell us what is so funny the next time you talk to us. And not about politics or anti-American stuff or how stupidly funny we are. It can be anything. Monty Python or just hearing a heavy object hitting a mudpuddle and sounding like a giant turd hitting a loo. Just post it. And not be hurting yourself and others anymore. Laugh and have fun for a change. |

You did not start this thread Greenchick but you may well have ended this said thread.
Now my thought provoking question is:
If you eat green veggies, does your poo come out green? |

Good post Littlestar...unfortunately it took a zigzag by you know who (or is it whom?)...Yep, GC. I think Cat and Angel have been brilliant in their remarks without being a slam artist about it. Now GC, either you are a 'player' who is supposed to make like the devil's advocate to stir things up...or you are in my opinion one who has lots of angst, bitterness, hostility stirring inside that is only somewhat relieved when you attack others. Also I've wondered if you every joined a site in the UK to discuss situations/problems in your Country. And if so, were you roundly put down?...as I consider the British folks as astute, intelligent and not prone to take any guff from anyone. Is there a problem with no one willing to sit and listen to you? This site has given you lots of ground...that's the good 'Ol USA for ya!!!
Also, I agree with Angel in that you can be quite humorous when you want to be...and tho far and few between, other of your posts have been really interesting. So, what is it?
Mary...that is FUNNY! |

| You know LittleStar, I was just going to put the same news on, also. This is very serious if even France is preparing to do something that's bound to scare the daylights out of them. They've always touted peace. And the Iranians are dissing the French for being like Washington? How laughable is that? Even peace loving France knows how bad this is going to get. And that's a scary thought if a country like France is talking war. I was reluctant to put up a similar thread because of the crappola backlash from voicing my questions the last time around. Thanks for having the guts to do what I should have done. And it looks like France has the guts to admit the possibilities, too. |
