| 5 years ago TV Land was a haven for 1950s amd 1960s TV shows; everything from Dennis the Menace with Jay North to Superman with George Reeves. Today TV Land is an abysmal pit consisting of Good Times, The Jeffersons, The Cosby Show, The Andy Griffith Show, Leave it to Beaver, The Addams Family and Three`s Company. Their weekend programming consists almost entirely of constantly looped episodes of Gunsmoke and Bonanza. The TV Land dot com website STILL maintains, for some incomprehensible reason, a webpage listing dozens of shows they have not run IN 5 FULL YEARS! TV Land is a DISGRACE to american cable television. |

Think that DOC's trying to make a point here, Morgram. That's the fourth duplicate of this post I've seen. Cracked me up so much I couldn't even type in my password. Shoot! I've got tears in my eyes I laughed so hard. DOC, you so funny |

It`s pretty damn easy for some of you to mock me on this subject because some of you obviously have not watched as many hours of TV as I have the past 40 years. 100% percent of the shows, movies and cartoons I grew up with in the sixties are nowhere on TV today. I would have to spend thousands of dollars to buy all the things I want to see again on DVD. |

| A suggestion. Go take a look at the TV Land dot com message boards, programming suggestions in particular, and read for yourselves just how happy viewers are with the current state of TV Land. |

Am I wrong about having to spend hundreds of dollars on DVDs to see all my childhood programs again?...and please...specifically answer these questions. |

Well, you had better make a stop at Office Max to purchase a boatload of printer paper, ink and envelopes; you are going to need a lot of it.

Sadly Morgram, until people start realizing the greatness that they once were able to behold on TV each and every day, you will have to bide your time as a part of the minority. I myself miss a lot of those older programs... having none of them though means I have gone into reading books... Try to find yourself a hobby other than TV watching and perhaps someday you will flip on your TV and be delighted with what you see on it.

Should I point out Morgram that by paying your cable bill each month you ARE paying for all the wonderful stuff from TV's yesteryear and anything else you might be tempted to peak into?

 | EVERYBODY has to pay for their basic channel line-up. Gee, I did not know that. I`ve lost count of how many times it has been cavalierly suggested to me that I go out and buy what I want on DVD. If I ever win the lottery maybe I`ll do that. Lifelong viewers like myself DESERVE to see the beloved shows we grew up with AGAIN. That`s all I`m saying ESPECIALLY when you consider that most 50s/60s TV fare has been completely ignored for the last 30 years of syndication. The wonderful shows of the 1950s and 1960s ought to be put back on the air again and it IS LONG OVERDUE. |

1 Because it is getting old and tiresome listening to you whine about TV Land.
2 Don't know, don't care if you are wrong or right. I watch a couple hours a day at the most. Old crap, new crap is still crap.
3 See answer # 2.
4 If you enjoy the crap so much them either buy it or don't see it. You seem to be fixated with watching TV. Too much TV will rot your brain. Read a damn book and let your brain be your TV. It is called IMAGINATION!! Hell you can put John Wayne in all the lead roles of the books you read.
Turn off the tube dude and widen your horizons. Get out and see stuff in real life. It is much more entertaining than looking at electrons hitting a CRT. |

In my area TV land is part of the Basic Extended package but not the Basic cable package. There is an extreme difference in price as well since Basic is only the extremely local channels, roughly 10 in all versus over 60 channels in the Basic Extended package.
Either way... you should have kept your frustrations on TV land down to one thread... I understand your frustrations but by posting so many different threads on the same general idea does tend to upset people. |

Just remember Morgram that though many of us like the old TV land, most of the posting members of the board don't share your zeal for changing that channel's programing because they've either...
A) Realized the fact that in order for TV land to make money, they have to cater to the ratings and televise what garners more ratings. (I hope you realize that those people posting on the TV land message board represent only a fraction of those who regularly view TV land, and so do not represent the majority.)
B) Realized that they are interested in other programming on other channels as well. Not all '80's and newer programs are mindless drivel.
I like programs like:
Home Improvement
Seinfeld
Everybody Loves Raymond
ER
Boston Legal
Law and Order
Law and Order SVU
Who's Line is it Anyway?
to name a few...
I miss the old programs like Leave It to Beaver, Gomer Pyle USMC, and Hogan's Heroes but I do have enough to watch until they decide to bring them back to the screen.
C) have given up hope on TV Land already and have already started investing in DVDs and such or found another hobby other than watching TV.
Beating us over the head with the topic in multiple threads will most likely turn people against you because they don't want to be inundated with it all of the time.

| There has been a temporary interruption in my cable subscription. I think it may have someting to do with not paying my bill but, anyway, I have never watched TV Land except for a few times in not-all-that-cheap motel rooms. |
