How can you forget your kid in the car if you were planning to take them to daycare, school, shopping, etc in the first place? Nothing was mentioned if the women was on any medication (duno how else "accidentlly" she could forget)??? TIME TO PUT COMPUTERS TO THE TEST!!! Unfortunately we can’t count on people these days…

If the death toll of children dying in automobiles while park or forgotten is high, would it be logical if the government to action an added another safety feature in automobiles. For example,

The Simplistic Solution: a thermal heat detection-senor unit located within the dome light that would sense a human or animal and sound off a siren and keychain beeper.

The Elaborate Fail-Safe Device: installing a thermal heat detection-senor unit within the dome light that would sense a human or animal that would make the necessary adjustment; if it’s too hot (i.e. over 80 the all the windows go down inch. If it is too cold, (i.e. below 45) the automobile engine starts and the heater is activated (note: care will not be able to go in drive unless the key is in the ignition) and a siren from the car and the drivers keychain beeper are activated. In addition, 911 is alerted.

I feel like children have become a fashion element...
Like a pair of shoes you forget them the moment you put them away.

I know it sounds harsh, but I know of couples who had their child and dropped it in to babycare only after 10 days.
Some times they have to be called to pick up their baby just because they forget to pick her up.
Often they bring the little one in with the same clothes she wore the day before.
Childcare cant do anything about it since there is no abuse or neglect, at least not a proven one.

I'm an just on old fashioned mom and dont understand anything of the new way of raising children Sad

If the clothes are filthy on the baby, that could fall under neglect here in the states (for the majority I presumed).

Hi Pippa Very Happy

Your idea is GREAT DOC!!!!

There is a car on the Market...right NOW...that can detect the presence of a Human within it and notifies your keyless lock device...BMW?... I think?
but your idea would only cost a couple of chips more....(of course as the system is set up now...they have to REMEMBER to push a button...that may be TOO MUCH for some)

I'm just really feeling FOUL today with this News of People forgetting the most Important Beings in their Life...We're becoming Murderous...it really upsets me....I'm going back in my Cave now....

People should have a licence to have a child when they get married.

No licence no kids.

Or get an animal. If they treat the animal well then they can apply for a permit to have kids.

I know people that treat their animals better than their kids!

Hi DOC Very Happy

Yeah I guess you're right, but child care is NOT as strickt over here as in the states.
And the daycare centre is only interested in the money that those parents (usualy well of) pay each month.

Sadly, but true....

My son is in daycare most of the day as my husband and I both *have* to work full time jobs (gr...)

One day, I had to go food shopping and was getting ready to leave, when something didn't feel right. Then I remembered that my son was home that day, and naturally I had to take him with me. One of my most scariest moments.

We get run so ragged trying to make enough to live decently (having healthy food, decent place to live and health insurance) that you really have to be careful about things, because you are so over-extended.

I really hate the way things are run right now. I want national health insurance! The cost for health care is absolutely ridiculous! It is essentially the reason why we have to have two full time jobs, it's also the reason why we had to wait five years to get married! Mad

Thanks Littlestar for pointing this out to me. Wink

As most of you seem to know me by now, incidents like this (psychological level) I always revert to how an individual up brining hence, drives their future. I now question if this mother's mother had neglected her during her childhood. Idea

That's the problem with these people, the children aren't the most important beings in their lives, they are!
I've never left one of mine in the car, forgotten where they are at any moment, and this has been going on 16 years now. How can you not know exactly where your children are?
I agree with the statement that children are something some people want because everyone else has one. Like little dogs.
I'm all for the prequalifying and licensing new parents.....and pre-parent classes required!
