Your pup is absolutely gorgeous... I hope to one day have one of the same breed.
That and a big, lovable Doberman. When not trained for "security" reasons Doberman breed dogs can truly be very expressively affectionate animals.

What a handsome guy!
Isn't it amazing how fast they grow and change?

They are bi colored eyes. Very typical of the breed. |

"Going" to be Handsome?
He already is !!!!
His "ghosteye" does seem to roll up a little far....what's up? is it the angle of the pic?
I can just hear his little nails on the vinyl floor....

| Handsome pup. If you haven't already, are you planning to have a chip put into him? |

Let me see if I can get all of these...
His eye is indeed a parti-eye. About 2/3 of it is brown and 1/3 of it is blue. It can look a little funny (and the blue part seems to look bigger) when his pupil is contracted, and I believe that is what happened in the picture as I had the flash on.
Now that my summer work is done and I'm actually home in time to take him out, house and crate training are commencing with some regularity, but won't go full blast until next week when my son goes back to daycare. He's good in the kennel and doesn't make a fuss. He has been going pee regularly outside and has now started to spend sometime hanging out with us in the living room for extended periods, now that I don't have to worry about him marking (got fixed this week too!). This is to our cat's disgust, and he prefers to paw at his butt and back when he gets the chance! Poo still needs some work though.
We've also started him on the prong collar. It looks like a torture device on it's own, but has some distinct advantages over the traditional choke collar. One is that it doesn't constrict the neck and windpipe and so he won't give himself a collapsed trachea (which can be something to watch out for in younger dogs with the choke chain). I've had beagles and they all pulled on the choke chains until they nearly passed out. Vikhr stops abruptly with even a tiny correction and is doing wonderful walking now. (As he was getting older he was pulling more, which is normal and why I eventually brought him to the prong collar.) I introduced him slowly to it, with two separate leashes on his regular collar and one on the prong, so he couldn't check himself, get scared, and end up pulling harder and checking himself worse. Once he understood it, he did beautifully. Hopefully once he is past the crazy puppy stage we can go back to regular collars.
I am looking forward to fall with cooler weather and hopefully some breaks in work so I can walk with him during the day!
He was microchipped when he came from the breeder, and I need to get all of his paperwork done (registered name and all that), hopefully this week.
Very glad summer is over, it was very busy and I'm looking forward to a more regular and less hectic schedule!
Thank you for all your kind words! |
