Well, 40 years ago, we had the CBC, the CTV, CBMT and a very fuzzy PBS out of Plattsburg if the weather was good and somebody held the rabbit ears.

THAT is NOT Logical.... AT all... |
Some things just aren't right.......... |
it's SO WRONG... So against nature... really! |
The wrestlers are freaks of nature.
Isn't that enough? |
NO, they need to be from other planets, not just act like they are!
 |
Then that would sort of defeat the purpose of SciFi if the requirement for being on the channel was not just acting like aliens but actually BEING aliens...
Star Trek would have no genre if that was the case...

Do you really think so or do you just remember the good bits? Thre are some brilliant programmes on now. | Well, it would be extremely difficult for anyone here in america to do a comparison since 100% of the TV shows of yesteryear are NOWHERE to be found on the air. Not only TV shows but the bulk of all the sci-fi and horror movies I was watching when I was growing up are nowhere to be found either. Not to mention assorted made-for-TV movies and mini-series` as well. Greed and the DVD video market now rule the day at least here in america. |

Well I'll take "All in The Family" and "Barney Miller" any day over the crap they've got on now. |

There's the boys. Great show. Gene Levy, Andrea Martin, and another one that was good at playing a Canadian mountie and Dracula. And of course John Candy who was one of my favorite comedians.

Maybe it's time for real life.
There are great shows out there, but the summer recess is for living life, outside, moving, non couch bound, not house bound.
My kids would stare at a test screen if I allowed it, they were so television addicted. Try the 30 day TV ban. It's severe withdrawl in the beginning, but by the end, you barely miss it.
Now we watch only what's truely enjoyable, instead of mindlessly staring at anything that moves.
Television's simply not that important. (Sorry Bill) |

Yay X-Files!!
Yeah, we canceled our cable (except local) b/c there were only two or so channels we watched. Discovery and Animal Planet. Some of the others are good too, but just not enough on to make us watch it. Must be the outliers in the 30 and younger crowd... |

One thing I miss are decent movies on TV. I think all the networks share the rights to about 4 movies, and they replay them, and replay them, and replay them...... |
