| The american cable TV industry has been hijacked by the greedmeisters. Between midnite and six in the morning on dozens of cable channels are nothing but infomercials for exercise machines and cooking utensils. 4 or 5 years ago a once exceptional cable channel called TV Land which was a haven for 1950s and 60s TV shows, most of which had been so ignored since the early seventies are now once again gone. The bulk of syndicated programming now made up entirely of 90s and 80s garbage rule the airwaves. The manure coming out of Hollywood both movie-wise and TV-wise leads life-long television and movie watchers like myself to believe that almost no one in positions of influence in Hollywood believes that anyone exists over the age of 30. What the hell happened and how long will it continue? Hollywood and the cable industry ARE IGNORING hundreds of millions of americans in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. |

Yep, that pretty much covers it. Advertisers pretty much do the same thing. |

Why would you gear television advertisements to Seniors (60's & 70's) that are on a fixed budget A good Marketer knows this |

My word, man, how can you say that???? Do you want those seniors making uninformed choices? You've got viagra, levitra, and celeis (sp?). You've got chairs that spin, manuever, and lift. You've got heart meds, fart meds., pills that make you go, pills that keep you from going when you don't want to. You've got all those insurance choices for the "big go". You've got bras that lift, pads for when you accidentally piddle, creams that firm, gel that covers gray, etc. All those choices?!!? And you want to see these poor folks make these choices uninformed? Do you want to be held responsible when Grandpa chooses ex-lax when he needed viagra???? Do you care if Grandma's chair spins when it should lift?
Doc, Doc, Doc. What are you thinking? |

Don't have cable, but I caught up on it when I was at the hospital yesterday. I saw that! Why? Just plain weird! Maybe because the WWF is pure fiction. It does take some science to make it look convincing. At least I got to see some X-Files while I was there. |

What I am saying is, TV is mainly geared to the younger generation hence, TV Land shows going down the tubes (as Morgram would put it). The commercials your mentioning are usually shown Off-peak hours (i.e. Teens in School or late at night, etc...)

I watch Boston Legal at night on Tuesdays and Star Trek on the weekends if it is on but I agree with you - its called Primetime
And during Primetime I've noticed more sex-based shows for older individuals Scary |

| I don't know the channel you're talking about, but the best of American TV is world-beating! I adore Six Feet Under, Boston Legal, natch, The West Wing, the Sopranos to name but a few... |
