I just wanted to give a virtual hug and a thank you to Bill for sharing his exeriences regarding his tinnitus with the public. I have had tinnitus for 18 years and it has recently gotten worse. I am going to go a head and make an appointment for Habituation Therapy, as Bill has been such an advocate of it. It puts my mind at ease, somewhat, knowing that there is an effective means of relief for the very unwelcomed experience of tinnitus.

If anyone is interested, there is very encouraging research being conducted in the area of inner ear hair cell regeneration at the University of Washington.

When I was a kid, I used to hear a "whine' sound when I'd be falling asleep. (I never noticed it while I was up and about - only at bedtime).

I used to take my pillow and put it under my feet. That seemed to help.

No scientific proof here... just sharing.

I just saw Bill's new video describing his experiences with tinitus on the website of the American Tinnitus Association. Thank you, once again, Bill for your efforts to get the word out concerning this debillitating condition. I appreciate the anxiety and pain you went through. Few people, until they have been there, can truly understand the effects that not being able to hear silence ever again can have on someone. I know that you have been helped by your treatment with tinnitus, but I thank you for not turning a "deaf ear" on those of us who continue to suffer with it or who have not yet been adequately treated. Your friend forever, Marjorie T.

I get that ringing in my ears periodically, mostly due to not wearing earplugs for so long when I grew up playing my drums. Since then, I've bought a pair and always where them when I play with my band.

In order for me to really get a good nights sleep, I have a movie or Boston Legal going on my computer. Keeps the buzzing out of my ears. I'm sorry that you're going through it that badly. Keep a chin up!

YES !!!! Please wear headphones when practicing and
protect at every gig....

I wanted to say something before, but I'm always too preachy and pushy
so, I backed off, but I don't want you to end up like me...

If you're already getting ringing...it could get much worse....
so, excuse me for being a "muvver", but Protect YOUR EARS !!!

This has been a Public Service Announcement from the too proud
to wear protection when I was performing group...and NOW Ya Pays the Price Affiliates

Haha! Right... I've gotten better. Always have my ear phones in my drum bag at practice, so I won't have to worry about where they are at anymore.

I remember once when I was 2-3yrs old, going up to my dad in the middle of the night b/c I couldn't sleep. I complained about a "train in my ears". Which was the closest I could come to describing the ringing/rushing sound I was hearing.

He said that was normal and told me to go back to bed.

I thought maybe he hadn't heard me properly and repeated myself a couple times.

He assured me it was normal and sent me back to bed.

I still hear it, and it doesn't bother me. It's like white noise. Or rather, the "sound" of silence. Wink

Maybe it was one of those things where, if it's the only thing you know and you think it's normal, it doesn't bother you. Laughing
