| I read an article I came across on google yesterday saying that microsoft is conceding that vista has failed and that Dell was going to go back to xp on their machines. Now isn`t that a rib tickler. |

I dislike Vista, but wish Dell luck with that. If MS stops shipping XP and stops activating existing copies they and we wont have much choice.
I doubt MS is too concerned... Yet. |

At my place they wanted to wait to be sure that Vista would work out.... I guess not! |

| I think that the drivers issues with vista are getting ironed out but you can`t fart from within vista without getting permission first. I find that superfluous and distracting. If microsoft had any brains they would tweak vista so everybody with DX8 hardware could get the glass effect. |

Excluding the Gamers needs, MS products are mostly used in Business. For the life of me why would MS want to toy with their OS (graphically speaking) not knowing the impact it will have on business; just to compete with Apple… One thing MS is very good at doing is patching!

Let's see, I didn't upgrade to Windows XP until I absolutely needed to start testing in IE7 . . . Then when I needed a new computer because Adobe CS3 required a Meg of memory to run, I built a custom one just so I could have XP. If it ain't broke, why fix it?
I'm not touching Vista until they come out with Service Pack 2, at least. |

My husband has Vista on the new Dell laptop he bought.
Not really happy with it ~ In fact I've heard threats of him throwing the notebook out the window, and doing assorted other violent acts to it......... He also mentioned that you can't do anything without a window popping up asking if you are really, really sure you want to do it. And it is compatible with little to nothing. Not something he would buy again. |

Many of the professor refuse to use Vista until it proves itself stable. For folks who depend on their computer for research, it is extremely important to have reliable software.
I won't use it yet either as I make my living on my computer and don't quite trust Vista yet. |
