That's a very good idea, Capt. JTK. Where do we start? I found the whole Horcruxes idea fascinating. And the Elder wand, too. Maybe we should ask whether anyone hasn't read the last book yet, though before we get started. I don't want to ruin it for them. Maybe we should discuss the first book first and work our way up Sue Marie, I know how you feel. Saw the first three movies and started on the books. I lived and breathed Harry Potter for a month, it was so darn good. |

If Capt. JTK is willing we'll start with the first book so that you can read the last. Nothing worse than telling the story before someone's had the chance to read it themselves. But then again I'm bad about that. That's why I'm going to wait and see what other people say |

Actually I don't think I'm going to read the last one too much Harry Potter for me I've only seen up to the fourth movie which has some pretty good graphics but I never really considered myself a Harry Potter fan I'm more excited about Star Trek XI and Bill's movie Horrorween in which he has a cameo (see my thread AWESOME! for more info) Everyone likes a campy horror movie now and then! |

Just saw this thread, but I'm about to leave the office.
I have a dinner engagement tonight, and then bowling, so I won't be able to catch up with you guys until tomorrow.
In order to discuss the first book, I'll probably have to read it again. It's been a long time since I've read that one, and my memory isn't that good in my old age!
Angel, thanks for thinking of me.
Have a good evening and catch up with you tomorrow. |

Well I've just finished the series-I saved my copy of the 7th book until I had finished re-reading the entire series-which IMO made it all that more relevant. |

I think I'll have to read mine again, too, to make it gel much more better. Waiting 6 months for the 7th one kinda put a kink in the old memory processes. I got my editions for Christmas so I'll have to study up on the first one abit. Just have to get caught up a bit. When everyone thinks they're all caught up and have read the last one then when Capt. JTK is ready we'll start it up. This could be a really great thread. I've always wanted to be in a book discussion group |

Gadz Zooks !!
Not only was I signed out when I got here but my icon is totally gone.
I've checked and it isn't even in my profile any longer.
So, I've chosen a new one and even that I didn't want so big.

Maybe, Spock1, you can find a thumbnail print of old Alfred E. That's pretty big. I like it, though. I loved that magazine when I was a kid. Happy hunting |

Hi Angel, I'm back after the weekend from hell, but that's a totally different story.
I went out and bought two copies of the first book, one was suppose to be mine, and the other my 13 yr old's. Well, before I could get mine out of the Walmart bag, my 9 yr old asked if she could start reading the series, so I dont' have a copy of the first book once again!
I couldn't tell my youngest that she couldn't have it, and our first copy has myteriously dissapeared.
I guess I have to go back to Walmart tomorrow......Someday we'll get this discussion started.
Hope all is well with you,
CaptJTK |

Hi Capt. JTk. All is well and I know about kids and their wants and needs You just take your time and we'll be waiting for you. No big hurry. I'm going to be starting a new novel that my hubby bought me, so that'll occupy me for at least a couple of days. |

| My favorites were the first 2 books/movies, after those, i think it got too over complicated, trying to tell too many "sub plots" at once .The movies got "darker" and maybe for some ( younger kids) a bit too scary. |

The movies did start getting pretty scary. My daughter freaked when she saw Aragog and Lord Voldemort's basilisk. She threatened not to sleep after she saw the Dementors. After that I said she wasn't allowed to watch them until she was 13. The sub plots are complicated. It's hard to unravel them and make them cohesive to the main part of the story. That's why I need you guys to make more sense of it all |

Well JR did say at each books debut that the story would evolve and get a bit more dark.........b ut that is part of growing up
fortunately, DINK person that I am, I only have to worry about keeping the lights on |
