Ive just joined, been a fan since TOS, vividly remember arguing vociferously with my father in young teens to let me stay up to watch WS on Columbo because I loved him. Mom intervened and I got to stay up.

The BL cast photos were posted over on BL.org and I just wanted a place to come say - DAMN you look handsome, WS!

If its the makeup, where do I buy it, if its the lighting, Im changing my bulbs, if its the Bev Hills water, Im heading out there in Sept and will schlep back gallons ... whatever it is, this man bears no resemblance to a man of his chronological age.

Maybe its liking the job? That does show and the other things he does are reflected in his demeanor when he speaks in an interview, hes at ease with himself, with his surroundings, not looking put on the spot.

Dunno if I'll be much of a poster here but Im glad I joined so I could pass that along. Paul, thanks!

Welcome to the board bcubed and thank you for letting me know that the cast pictures are up on BL.org! I CAN'T WAIT until BL is back on TV again!

Yes, we're all fans of Bill here and some of us (like me) LOVE TOS (so you've come to the right place!) Yes, WS is a sexy, sexy man! LOL

As to his bearing no resemblance to his chronological age -- it might be the water (I gotta get me some of that!) Maybe you should ask Paul what kind of water Bill drinks -- I'd really like to know! Maybe it's the water AND his enjoying his job IDK -- but he looks nothing like 76 and sometimes even I forget that he's that old

And thank you again for notifying me! Very Happy I hope that you're a regular poster here

Is it just my imagination, or does James Spader look snooty in every press photo?

Um. Show me at least one press picture where he looks snooty. I don't think he looks snooty. It might just be the way his character is, you know. When actors are acting it is not 'James Spader' anymore. The character takes on their bodies. He is 'Alan Shore' now, not regular Mr. Spader, and the same goes for Bill.

Although I love James, Alan Shore is rather snooty, which is not bad, it is just his character.

My impression of his character is something of a Bostonian blueblood. A lot of old money. His mannerisms are prep-school material. As for his background in real life I don't have any knowledge of. But he's played upper crust before in the teen movie Pretty In Pink. I liked him best in the movie Stargate. Cool Cool He's a talented and funny actor.

Spader steps into Alan Shore like a fireman steps into his gear. He looks very little like Shore out of the context. Shore IS snooty and that picture is of Shore not Spader (as I said he steps into him, has given him facial tics and postures the actor doesnt have, its really a craft).

Spaders backgrounds not dissimilar, prep school, but a drop out before HS grad. Al those sages who'll tel you about not making anything of yourself without a diploma, well ...

Alan Shore and Denny Crane are, imo, the best written, the best acted and the best imagined characters to interact since Spock and Kirk.

Thank you for the welcome - Im known for my typos Im afraid so try to ignore them; I can indeed spell but cannot type!

The picture in the link of the first post is an example, and you and Bcubed have explained very nicely why he looks like a snoot.

Welcome Bcubed! Cool

weight aside ... like two different men, pics taken about a month apart.

Thanks Chuck!

I think of Shore as an intellectual snob not a common or garden snob!
