I hate to alarm you but THIS is the guy who is playing Chekov: the only things going for him are that he IS Russian, as Chekov originally was, but, according to the news source and background info:
[color=red]'It is a good sign that Abrams is actually casting someone who was born in Russia, but Yelchin has lived in the US almost all his life and has no discernible accent'
Why be Chekov at all then if you don't have a Russian accent? I'm sure that he's a good actor, but all that Chekov in TOS had going for him was his accent and that he was a great actor. But wait...the guy who played Chekov in TOS WASN'T Russian...I think he was English, not like full-fledged British, according to a documentary I've seen over the summer a few years ago, and was a master at accents. In this case, Abrams' might have something going on here that is good, repeating what the TOS members were like. Zach Quinto already looks enough like Spock, this guy doesn't have a Russian accent, but I'm not sure if he can even do one well.
And to make things worse, he doesn't even LOOK like Chekov, but with the right makeup anything is possible. And to make things EVEN MORE WORSE scroll down to the last picture. You'll know.
Abrams also said that he wants 'box office' actors to play the villian and the Federation Captain. In which case, Bill can play either the villian or the Federation Captain if he comes aboard. I don't entirely understand Abrams' methods of casting little-known actors, and this movie can go either one of two ways, so why not just cast Shatner if you want it to be good? I would LOVE to see Bill return, just to spite my sister because if she sees the new movie with my brother, Bill will be in it and she HATES Bill. I know, that's mean.

You should think about becoming a BBK member. |

Ug. whatever. Someone tell me WHY they are trying to partially-reimage the characters? No offense to the new hires, but.. maybe the world loved the original Star Trek cast because of the actors behind them? It's not something you can refabricate.
Suggestion: NEW TREK = NEW CHARACTERS.
OR HAS ALL ORIGINALITY BEEN DRAINED OUT OF HOLLYWOOD???

| Exactly HHB that's WHY we're posting on Bill's site instead of some Star Trek TOS site out in the middle of nowhere It's because we love Bill as Kirk |
