SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Factbox about San Francisco Giants left fielder Barry Bonds, whose 756th career home run on Tuesday set a new Major League Baseball record.
-- Set the single-season record for home runs in 2001 with 73, beating Mark McGwire's record by three. Many fans suspect Bonds may have used steroids to power that record season and others in his late 30s, an age at which many players start to slow down.
-- Holds baseball record with seven National League Most Valuable Player Awards, far ahead of great players tied in second place including Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio and Stan Musial who each hold three. In North American professional sport, only ice hockey's Wayne Gretzky has more MVPs with nine.
-- Because of both his sharp eye and cautious pitching by opposing teams, Bonds holds the single-season record for both unintentional and intentional walks, and the lifetime record for career walks. San Francisco fans often wave rubber chickens in disapproval when opposing pitchers walk Bonds.
-- This season passed Ty Cobb for second place for most times on base safely in baseball history, trailing only Pete Rose.
-- Longtime personal trainer and boyhood friend Greg Anderson, who previously completed a prison sentence on steroid distribution charges, remains in jail since last year after refusing to testify about Bonds. The San Francisco Giants player remains under investigation as to whether he lied about past steroid use to the grand jury in the BALCO sports doping case. |

| Was it ever determined whether or not Bonds had been taking steroids? |

There is a paper trail that shows Bond's guilt, plus plenty of witness evidence if certain guys would testify against him.
I saw Bonds hit the home run, knew he was a cheater, and gave a tired yawn. |

I watched the hit as well.
Sure were a lot of people scrambling for that ball........ |
