I've been wondering too.

Hope you are doing okay, and healing quickly, Diana.

I'm in a bit of pain now and again and my eye is swollen pretty big but I am doing better and will get my stitches out in 2 weeks.

The surgery went well and I didn't even get sick!

I was home 2 hours after the surgery and in my own bed.

I had to put ice on my face and over the eye socket for 10 minutes every hour for the first 2 days. I have an antibiotic I put on my eye and Samantha does the dressing for me. They took the patch off and now I have pink eye from my greasy hair getting in it. I can't bend over or pick anything heavy up for 3 weeks as it puts pressure on my face. I bent over once and it hurt.....really bad!

They said the cancer had spread farther than they thoguht and they had to remove my lower lid from the corner of my eye by my nose to nearly the other side. THey had to cut off 4 pieces to get it all and they went deep in the eye socket to make sure it wasent in the bone. THey did reconstructive surgery and made me a new eye lid and part of my upper cheek to make it look as natural as possible. I will have swelling for the next 3 weeks and have to watch for infections.

I am a pretty yellow green a nd dark purple on my face but it is getting better. Dr Cuite is now making me wear sun glasses to protecxt my eyes and I will need to wear sun screen and sunglasses inthe sun for the rest of my life and it can come back.

thank you for asking and I am here, it's just kind of hard for me to see as the medication makes my one eye blurry! I walked into the walls alot with one eye patched.......And I tripped over my own feet the first 24 hours as the shots wore off Shocked

glad you have got that over with and it will be fine after a couple of weeks. I had one of these but was able to get rid of it in the surgery, it was right in the corner of my eye, but not on the lid. they do grow very quickly.

it is a good job jobbed:)Smile Take care

Thank you Daisy Very Happy I will recover it's just going to take time.....They said this cancer may have been slow growing there for over a year....and it just happened to break the surface as it had a sudden growth spurt!

The only bad thing is the eye lid its self is tender and every time I blink it hurts! Plus the stitches itch like crazy

I am glad that the surgery went well. I am praying for your healing. I am sorry that you are in so much pain right now.

As for the pink eye.... ouch! I have had that and it is not fun at all.

You may try wearing some sort of head covering.... head band, scarf, turbin, etc. It will help keep your hair out of your eyes. It will also help prevent any sweat from dripping into your eyes and causing more infection or pain.

Take care,

Sue B

Glad to hear you're on the mend!!! Sounds like everything went well, in spite of the extra "removal" they had to do. Better to get it done all at once rather than go back a 2nd time!!!

Wishing you a speedy recovery!!!!

Thank you all for the well wishes, I appreciate them a LOT!

Thanks Sue for the advice about my hair, but later this week I am getting it cut short, a la Barry Manilow style cut! IF you've seen his latest CD cover his hair is a spiked all over the top and sides with a little length in the back. I had it like that before and it looked nice on me! Very Happy

Vampyregirl, I agree get it done once and don't go back twice! IT was a tough cut they had to do and my eye lid is a but smaller than my right eye but I don't care as long as the cancer is GONE!!

THe Dr showed me pics of my eye during surgery a nd she cut it wide and deep. THE lab kept checking the tissue and he said there were still cancer cells in each piece she had taken off so they had to cut me 4 times to get it off, hence the removal of the lower lid, I had seen pictures on the Dr's web site of people who had refused surgery and then later came in to get it fixed........ Shocked THey don't call it "rodent chew" cancer for nothing!

My Dad came to see me last night, and the first thing he said to me was "Did you win the fight???" Very Happy He was just glad it was over and he and my Mom were concerned about it all too and they have helped me a lot, along with my sister Donna. My kids have been helping too and Sammy my youngest deserves a big present adter this is over for the work and care she did for me. The 17 year old did help too but the 13 yr old Sammy did the most.

One thing that did help was that I had saved and saved and saved for my soda pop can recycling money and some of a tax refund and I got my Storm Trooper armor and helmet! I paid my bills first them saved out for this. I am saving for the Under Armor to wear under neath it THe Star Wars costumong group, the 501st Vaders Fist is a costuming group acrost the midwest and the USA and they do charity work in Childrens hospitals and events. I've been to two events already here in my town and we raised a lot of money! I can't find the URL right now but I'll post it here later.

But I have to get off as I need food amf my micrwave just dinged for my coffee to be done.

See you later!

It sounds like it's going to be a long recovery. Just take it easy and don't try to do too much. You've got a lot of help! Very Happy

Yes it sounds like I have 7 to 12 more weeks of recovery before I'm ok again!

7 to 12 Weeks is a long time but I'm sure we here will be able to help make it pass very quickly.

Stay well!

Good to hear you are doing okay. I know you have an awfully long recovery ahead of you, but I'm so thankful that they caught it.

Hang in there and know that we are thinking of you! Very Happy
