I think he would be a great Scotty. I wonder what James Doohan would have thought. Cool

Yes teclaydon, please extrapolate that term for us please. Cool

I do have an idea what that means, but I shall wait for Terry's reply.

'Bogus Frat' is a TOS Scotty-ism. Scotty referred to Harry Mudd as this in 'I, Mudd' and - if you listen carefully - he could also be heard to utter the term under his breath in other episodes when dealing with a situation that wasn't going well.

I read somewhere that the term itself has no real meaning ...it was something that Jimmy Doohan 'made up'.

Cool

Seems now that you mentioned it, that I have heard that phrase before. The most memorable one though is, "Up your shaft!" From In Search of Spock."

I cant recall the saying however if I didnt understand the phrase this is why, so you recon Scotty would not approve of my choice.

I guess you have to see this actor in Stargate Atlantis, he is a "Canadian actor" maybe a tad old but has a young face. he has the Scottish accent he was actually born in Scotland. moved to Canada when only 2 years old.

but it is his humour that is so like Scotty and the smile and charm of Doohan .

Actually, I do see the resemblance ...I just can't pass up on an opportunity to use 'bogus frat' in a sentence.

Cool

I had the chance to meet Paul at Shoreleave 2007 here in Maryland a couple of weeks ago. He is so nice and funny!
I agree...he would make a GREAT Scotty.

As for his character being killed off in Atlantis.....remember death in Sci Fi is not always permanent! Paul hinted (very strongly) that his character would be back....he just wouldn't give any details!

it is strange you say this because I always thought there was a way out for him to come back he could have been a replicator all along. and the real doctor was captured to help them with reproduction:) the replicator was "killed:)

I adored this guy and was actually upset when they killed him off, I did join in a protest group over it Smile
