Ok...Now if y'all think ya got it bad with your kids mooching off of ya and being unproductive, then get a load of this one. If I was living in a situation like that then I'd be begging someone to just put me out of my frickin' misery. No disrespect to the Sicilian members or peepers, but seriously! Wouldn't it be nice to have your own household by the time you get this old?!? Good behavior or not, I'm hoping that my son has some guts and gets on with his own life by the time he's at least 20. Sheesh!

ROME (Reuters) - A Sicilian mother took away her 61-year-old son's house keys, cut off his allowance and hauled him to the police station because he stayed out late.

Tired of her son's misbehavior, the retiree in the central Sicilian city of Caltagirone turned to the police to "convince this blockhead" to behave properly, La Sicilia, one of Sicily's leading newspapers, reported on Thursday.

The son responded by saying his mother did not give him a big enough weekly allowance and did not know how to cook.

"My son does not respect me, he doesn't tell me where he's going in the evenings and returns home late," the woman was quoted as saying. "He is never happy with the food I make and always complains. This can't go on."

Police helped the squabbling duo make up and the two returned home together, with the son's house keys and daily allowance restored.

Most Italian men still live at home late into their 30s, enjoying their "mamma's" cooking, washing and ironing.

Laughing If I was single and free I'd be steering clear of that mama's boy. Women want men who're not still tied to the old apron strings. What I keep telling my son. He won't save for a car! What kid doesn't want his own set of wheels? Evidently my SON!!! Says he's scared of wrecking. All right, son, have it your way, but chicks won't go out with a kid that walks all over town and doesn't own a car. BROTHER!!!

Wow, I have an 18 year old daughter that refuses to keep a job for over a week or two. I guess that I am partially to blame. I have spoiled her to no end. I bought her a car. I didn't make her work for it. I am at my wits end with her. But this story tops the cake, I can't imagine having one of my kids still living with me in their 30's. At what point does a parent's responsibility end, if indeed it ever does?

My son is 17 and we insist on him buying his own car, but he's still a big giant pain in the butt. When he's 18, legally in the state of Oklahoma he's out on his own. He's wanting to be anyways. I wouldn't mind if he stayed until he's 20. I left home when I was 21 to get married. But he's got to straighten up his ways Sad Sad

Yeah, there must be something wrong with that man, if he is still living with his mother at the age of 61. That is just wierd. If my kids are still living with me when I'm in my 70's or 80's and expecting an allowance, someone please shoot me. My 18 year old daughter has moved out on her own, so to speak, and guess who is paying her rent, her electric bill, her car insurance and buying her groceries? Heck, I'd be better off if she would move back in.

When the time comes for my boy to be on his own, he's on his own. No handouts, unless of some sort of medical crisis. Other than that, nada. I hate to do that, but that's life and he needs to experience it just like everyone else.....with the exception of that old fella. Rolling Eyes Cool

I wish that I had the answer to that question Littlestar. I have been telling myself that I am going to cut her off, but for some reason, I just can't do it. I keep hoping that she will change, but so far she hasn't. It's like what my husband says I guess. "She will have to learn the hard way and hit the bottom before she wakes up." That isn't going to happen though unless I cut her off. So is that what I should do?

If she has a job tell her she has to save her money for 3 months to supprt herself and then cut her off. IF she has a job and can afford to live on her own then so be it. But if she does need some help then she can pay at least the rent.

Well, I'm 30 and still living at home. But I don't give my mother grief and I try my best to pay my own way. I want to move out, I just don't have the money.
