I wrote this up for the BBK team, a few years back, and got third place. Of course, to this day, I think I should have come first!!!

Quote:
A brief description for a CGI sequence entered in the Bring Back Captain Kirk campaign:

Ultra-close-up of Ambassador Spock's face, as he appears in TNG era. The camera draws away, passing through the glass of his shuttlecraft. Flashing globules of orange and yellow reflect across the window shield.

Cut to a close-up of Spock’s hands as he pushes a button, which immediately throws this unusual shuttlecraft into warp speed. It hurtles rapidly towards a nearby star. Spock is attempting time travel, using the star as a sling.

The sound effects should be intense, with the spacecraft rattling. Incredible stresses upon both Spock and the shuttle are visually evident.

The shuttlecraft is seen disappearing behind the star at great speed. There is a pause, before the vessel reappears.

Cut to the interior of the shuttle. Spock is laying in a course for the Nexus ribbon – the mysterious plasma stream that featured in Star Trek: Generations.

He knows that the Nexus is unapproachable and now going through its flux cycle, which will make it invisible for another 110 years. To save his friend, Captain Kirk, from the fate that kills him during Star Trek: Generations, he has chosen to time travel back to the point just before the Nexus strikes the Enterprise B.

Cut to external shot, as the shuttlecraft rapidly approaches the Enterprise B as the Nexus is ensnaring it.

Cut to shots taken from Star Trek: Generations of Kirk rushing through the decks to save the Enterprise B.

Just as the ship is about to be breached by the Nexus, as seen in the film, Spock beams Kirk aboard the futuristic shuttle.

Ambassador Spock rotates his seat around and says, 'Welcome aboard, Captain.' Through the window behind Spock, we can see the Enterprise B breaking away from the pull of the Nexus, thanks to Kirk’s heroics.

ADDITION: In the new Star Trek movie, the memories could now come flowing, as our heroes reflect upon their transcendent relationship.

Star Trek: Who Killed Captain Kirk?

DC Comics

Contents
Introduction by George Takei
Aspiring to Be Angels
Marriage of Inconvenience
Haunted Honeymoon
Hell in a Handbasket
You're Dead, Jim
Old Loyalties
Finnegan's Wake!

Blurb

The U.S.S. Enterprise has encountered many strange beings and situations but none has chilled them to the bone more than death. Someone aboard the starship has killed Captain Kirk -- or so it seems. While the Captain recovers, it falls to his loyal crew to uncover the facts behind the case and learn whether one of their own is a cold-blooded killer.

The investigation is hampered by the unwanted arrival of the Klingons and an ill telepath who sends the entire crew on a journey through Dante's Inferno. And then, just when everything is starting to calm down, Finnegan, Kirk's nemesis from his Academy days, arrives to take charge of the mystery. Murder, mayhem, and loads of action mark this graphic collection of stories featuring the Star Trek debut of acclaimed author Peter David.

Comments

As the blurb says, this is the first professional Star Trek work by Peter David, one of the most popular Trek novelists. The book combines characters original to the comic (Konom, Bearclaw, and others) with guest stars from the original series (Finnegan) and the animated series (M'Ress), along with the usual crew. The stories here first appeared as issues 49-55 of the original DC comic's run.

My scenario has Kirk coming back to life underneath all those rocks on veridian 3. His body undergoes a regeneration from residual nexus energy. After digging himself out from underneath Picard`s rocks Kirk realizes he`s a goner without any food or water. Elsewhere Spock realizing what may have happened races to veridian 3 to aid his friend.

How about a bunch of Green Chicks go on an Archeological Dig into the rubble....they find enough genetic material to clone their beloved play partner...and luckily his memories are intact in the cell memory sequence...or some such stupid scenario....

The cells advance in age at a quicker rate, much as Spock did...and VOILA!...Kirk is Back.....

Hehehe..I'm just being stupid Image

Great scripting Harry Mudd

Having had Spock come back to life in previous films and having gone back in time to bring back an extinct species back to earth theres no reason why they couldn't bring back Kirk. Isn't the mantra of Star Trek that ANYTHING is possible?

They could be accused of repeating themselves and cheating the audience by killing off characters only to have them return in future episodes.

The director of this film JJ Abrams is a master of bringing dead characters back to life. He did it many many times in ALIAS -I lost count of the number of times Jennifer Garners mum popped her clogs in that series and she was just one character that snuffed it and returned to the living.

I have another idea

Kirk comes back and returns like nothing has happened - No time travel no regeneration no expedition to find kirks body and search for
his brain.

No explanation.

Nobody is sure whats happened they accept that Kirk is there in the present and leave questions mark about how until he starts acting out of character and it is finally revealed that the Kirk that comes back is the EVIL KIRK from the parallel universe.

Remember the episode 'Mirror Mirror' where a transporter malfunction took the crew to a parrallel universe. What if the Evil Kirk had found a way of escaping the parrallel universe and plotted to assume command in this one?

I've not thought it through properly but it just shows there are many ways in which they could bring back Kirk.

Bring back William Shatner!

Thanks for the comments. There is no reason for Kirk to remain dead. It is simple to save him, without too many silly tricks.

Or better yet, an expedition of female romulans lead by the commander from "the enterprise incident" who has gradually developed the hots for Kirk by being the only man to effectively give her the business.

I'd like to hear from the Leave Kirk Be Campaign on this one.
They are a refreshing bunch.

How about this: Spock needs to talk with the still-dead Kirk. So, Spock must locate the Nexus, traveling somewhere in the Universe. Spock figures out a way to temporarily get into the Nexus, then chats with the part of Kirk that's still trapped in the Nexus. (Justification: remember from Generations film when the character Guynan had a part of herself still inside the Nexus, and another part - her real self - outside the Nexus?)

If this were done, Kirk wouldn't have to be brought back to life (if that's a problem), no time travel involved, and Spock could still talk to Kirk.
