For a long time I've been blaming Picard especially for piling those rocks on Kirks body or presumably, I mean really, that was a little over the top. Picard just gets done putting the last rock in place when the ship shows up. I guess he thought the Captain would like to be buried on that planet under a bunch of rocks.
But now I'm thinking Guinan because if it wasn't for her Picard wouldn't have even known Kirk was in the Nexus. She could have gave better advise to Picard like
Picard says to Guinan: - "...I need some help, if you were to come back with me"
Guinan says to Picard: - "Na..ah ... Do I look like I have a red shirt on ? You're in the Nexus, just keep going back to the planet until you get it right, you don't need any help, you wimp. " |

| William Shatner signed the contract, and he was over 18 at the time. That is all. |

Good afternoon Doc!
Isn't it amazing how the zealots gloss over that little fact? |

Ditto on that | Maybe Bill was thinking a trek film devoted to his resurrection would be a blockbuster? Bill is hardly responsible for the incompetence of a major hollywood studio. |

Your right in regards to "Bill was thinking a trek film devoted to his resurrection would be a blockbuster" but Paramount wouldn’t fork up the cash for Bill; and I believe Bill’s ticket price was steep.
It's all about the cash! “Hollywood” is nothing more than a Business, that's all! There is no 'goody-two-shoes' when it comes to earning the highest potential in your career!
Over the past years, I see some “fans” thinking that Bill owes them the return from the grave enactment. Well guess what (you know the answer)?
Not to burst your bubble, piss on your parade, etc, etc, if Bill doesn’t end up in this movie (2008), the BBK might as well hang-up their servers (web-sites)! (IMO) |

(IMO) | I agree with you completely, Doc. No doubt Bill`s ticket price is steep but I`m not going to fault him for merely recognizing that without his character trek ain`t worth sh!t. It`s not Bill`s fault that paramount was too dumb to pay up. |

It's not just the money, it's the story . . . If we had seen some solid story writing in the last movies that paid homage to the characters instead of trying to play to politics, unions, power plays, and the like, Star Trek wouldn't be trying to reinvent itself now . . .
Star Trek II, III, VI and IV of what a good balance of story and characters can do for movie. Star Trek V would have been there too, but things happened so that the vision didn't get quite translated to reality.
Generations was a farce. If they had let Kirk die a hero the first time saving his ship that would have been fine. Of all the Next Generation movies, First Contact had everything that was needed to make it worth seeing, story, characters, and humor.
I vaguely remember what Nemesis and Insurrection were about . . . |

| The idea of this thread was to expand on the topic discussed in the clips of Leonard and Bill at the convention as to what character was to blame for Kirk's death. Of course it would be easy to blame Soran for blasting the bridge. But how about Riker he was pretty useless, although he did f/up the Enterprise real good. |

I blame this guy if he had refused to leave dock with a half finished ship Kirk would not have been killed. Therefore he would not have been in the Nexus in the first place . Most folks forget he was already dead before The piling of rocks on the nexus Kirk:)

| I saw him at the StarTrek convention in Tulsa. He was milling around buying sci-fi toys. My son just about had a heartattack because the guy had played one of his heroes in the movie Twister. He was wearing a dark suit in the middle of June and it was about a 100 degrees outside the building and about 85 degrees inside. Flashy for June. |

And if I remember right, Kirk told him to stay on the bridge. |

Then he skips to the turbo lift and as the door closes he says
"Ha" and sticks his tonge out
