I'M NOT GOING
Just an anouncement.....
Thought it would be nice to make a topic about WHY we want to STAY
1 :
I've got a load of friends over here,YES that's possible over the internet
2:
I just love to read and talk about BILL
3:
I just LOVE the cafe with all his quirky visitors
4:
I enjoy most of the posts made (minus politics, but that's just me and NOT the ones that post about it)
5:
I love to interact with people all over the world, weather they speak my language or not
6:
I even love Vito's dreadful POOP thread, hey...at least he's honest about it and I cant remember him ever attacking anyone
7:
I love the way the people are there for you when and if you need them
8:
I just love the beautiful images Daisy makes and i admire her for those !
9:
I love to read about the newest developments Paul posts.
10:
And most of all I love the way most people accept you for who or what you are !!!
So.......
THAT'S WHY I STAY |

Good Morning Pippa!
#1 & 10 on your list suit me. I'll post more later, but I have to get over to the grocery before the rain starts.

1. We have an opportunity to demonstrate the philosophy behind the IDIC:
| Quote: | | "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations represents a Vulcan belief that beauty, growth, and progress all result from the union of the unlike. Concord, as much as discord, requires the presence of at least two different notes. The brotherhood of man is an ideal based on learning to delight in our essential differences, as well as learning to recognize our similarities. The IDIC symbol is a union of a plain circle and triangle, uniting to produce the beautiful gemstone in the middle. The circle represents infinite, nature, woman, etc; the triangle can represent the finite, art, man, etc." |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_IDIC
I know that the actors tried to buck the idea of the "marketing toy," but that little symbol is the essence of what ST is all about. Learning to live together, respecting each other's differences, and working together in harmony.
2. There is a chance to grow as a community. I have seen folks get into some pretty nasty fights here, but later become rather good friends. Those who cannot accept the differences of others, simply leave (perhaps, they need a bit more maturing before returning).
3. I genuinely care about folks here. Whenever I hear of something happening on the news, no matter where on the planet, there is always at least one person who posts here that comes to mind, and I say a little prayer for that person and his/her safety.
4. I marveled at the outpooring of compassion and concern during the Katrina crisis. I honestly think that the idea of bringing in the cruise ships to help house some of those folks, came from this board.
5. Where else can you go and see beautifully done, 'ripped shirt' pics? And, on top of that, actually see a photo of yourself merged into the photo?
6. If this board were to suddenly go away, I would probably grieve as those I were grieving for a friend. I would also feel cut off from a part of the world, as I don't always get to hear about events going on in other parts of the globe (unless it is news worthy .... war, disaster, etc). I love to hear of folks gettng engaged, posting about parenting issues, or those who need someone to offer support during a time of need.
7. The Shatnervision is a great experiment. It allows us to see into the world of an actor without having to camp out on his front lawn or hang from the trees in hopes of gettng a rare glimpse. The Shatnervision also helps folks understand the sometimes grueling schedule of an actor and why he may not be able to stop in the middle of an airport to chat. It would be great if we all got to the point where if we did see Bill at an airport, we could simply give a quick wave in acknowlegement and be about our business and allow him to be about his.
8. Paul would be absolutely beside himself without a thing to do if we all went away........ JK Paul.............
9. Where else can you come and read the wonderful works of Spam Haiku writers?
10. That's probably enough for now. I would simply miss you guys and gals if you suddenly disappeared. |

Everything that Pippa and Sue Marie have said works for me too. And the fact this is pretty much where a bored stuck at home housewife can get a little socializing done |
