BTW: I was totally excited when they revealed the poster, but its kind of freaking lame, isn't it? I also saw a larger clip of it, and, along with STXI, which is on the bottom half, it's advertising Abrams' new movie Cloverfield, I think, on the top half, with the Statue of Liberty...and what does that have to do with ST? It makes no sense! Why not devote a WHOLE poster to STXI? I mean, it's just black letters and stars...no Enterprise...NOT EXCITING. Abrams has ONE chance to make ST great, and NOW is the time. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT WILL IS IN THE MOVIE, and I cannot accept another Kirk. I don't understand why Abrams has FAILED to cast someone as Kirk yet, if they ABSOLUTELY MUST have another guy as Kirk. There is still time, though, and that is what scares me most, because this movie can go in either direction: Blockbuster with Bill, or Total Failure. I HONESTLY don't want it to be a failure, and I DEFINITELY want Bill in it!
Abrams: YOU'D BETTER GET IN TOUCH WITH BILL!!!!!!!!
Bill: YOU'D BETTER ACCEPT!!!!!!!! SAVE US FROM THE TORTURE OF HAVING SOMEONE ELSE PLAY YOU AS KIRK!!!! AND WE ALL KNOW THAT YOU WANT THE ROLE...SO JUST DO ITTTTT!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH ABRAMS...HE STILL WANTS YOU IN THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!
As Abrams has said, it is hard competing with TOS because, let's face it, it was FREAKING AMAZING. I don't think that the TOS-era can EVER be redone. If you can't redo it, freaking LEAVE IT ALONE. Kirk was nothing less than PERFECT, and I believe that if Will is not cast, it will be a total slap in the face for him and us. So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping, but that's all that I can do. It's still very early. Of course, if they don't cast him, I'll be really upset, but who wouldn't be? I'm sure by now (almost 13 years) that starship in the sky has come up with amazing technology and the ST crew are capable of resurrecting Kirk.
I'm sure that Will doesn't want a cameo, and if you already played the leading role...who would accept that? There very well might be flashbacks and flashforwards, in which case Bill will have to be cast, but how minute the parts, I have no idea. If Will plays someone else, IT JUST WON'T WORK. HE IS JAMES T. KIRK! I think it is unfair that they're leaving Will out, when he MADE the character. As you can see, Nimoy looks happy in his picture with Quinto. THIS is what we want for Shatner! WE WANT HIM TO HAVE A ROLE--AND NOT JUST ANY ROLE--A DAMN GOOD ONE! PREFERABLY THAT OF KIRK. Abrams must know that without Shatner AND Nimoy IT WON'T WORK. This is why he wants Shatner, but he says the role has to be fitting for him, because he is such a phenomenal actor. I hope for the movie's sake, they redo the script to fit Shatner in. After all, although I love Nimoy, ST isn't ALL about him. It is more about Kirk.
Okay...enough of my rant... Sorry...had to get it all out.  |

| As Kirk is dead in Generations and ST11 won't developp the background from the shatnerverse, the best way to incorporate shatner is Spock (dying ?) remembering his past memories. He can discuss with Kirk in his mind, because he already meld with him : Archer did that with Surak. That way, Shatner 's age would o­nly be Spock's extrapolation. There could be great discussions between them about life, duty...<br><br>'We are desperately trying to find a way to put him in this movie.' (Abrams) |

Yes i suspect a flash back story as well:)
after all how could Leonard Nimoy be playing Spock when the younger version is already picked. William Shatner could not play his 17 year old youth:)
they would have to be two older men looking back on their youth:):)maybe in the Nexus:) Kirk has an "Echo" in there:)
That would work for me.
