I grew up watching TOS. I watch most of the Star Trek shows. I remember being a little hesitant when TNG first came out, but I really started to enjoy it. I loved DS9, and Avery Brooks is a phenominal actor. I never got into Voyager, but I have started watching it when I find it on. I loved Enterprise. I don't understand why it didn't run longer. As far as the movies go, I stopped watching them after Generations when they killed off Kirk. I did watch one of TNG movies, and it seemed kind of out of character to me, like the characters weren't the same as they were on the series. That kind of ruined it for me. I hope that this new Star Trek movie is a huge success. We have waited long enough. The more I think about the new movie, the more I believe that it is probable going to be a continuation of the 5 year mission. Anything else simple wouldn't make any sense. How can they make a movie about Kirk and Spock in their younger years at the academy or any where else for that matter, and have Scotty and Bones in the movie? Kirk and Spock wouldn't have been in Star Fleet Academy at the same time would they? I know for sure that Scotty and Bones were about 10 years older. They sure as heck wouldn't still be hanging around the academy. In my opinion the only thing that would work as a story line would have to be set in the same time period as TOS. They could easily work Leonard and Bill into the story. Just have them travel back in time or something. It wouldn't be that hard. Any thoughts?

Here's the Star Trek XI website.

Believe the litany of Star Trek's demise goes something like this (any one of these blows is lethal)…

Gene Roddenberry sells Star Trek proprietary rights to Paramount.

Gene Roddenberry dies.

B takes over.

B&B kill Kirk.

B&B kill Enterprise. Profits dematerialize and Paramount -- in their infinite wisdom -- give B&B the boot.

With absolutely no clue about Star Trek, Paramount avariciously plans for Star Trek XI. Suggested title…

Star Trek XI: The Search for a Quick Buck

That sounds just about right.

I totally agree....
only a real ST fan knows the relevance of TOS and its characters.
A Star Trek Movie without Kirk (Bill) or Spock (Leonard) is not a Star Trek Movie.
