Small plane lands on Route 495 in Boxboro

A pilot flying a Cessna 170 ran out of gas this afternoon and landed on Interstate 495 between exits 27 and 28 in Boxboro, authorities said.
The plane landed without any damage or injuries, said Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration in New England.
Although the plane landed safely, it nevertheless caused delays during the rush hour commute. According to the SmartRoute traffic monitoring system, the landing forcing lane closings on the right side of I-495 north, while the curiosity factor prompted delays heading south on the highway as well.
Peters added the plane is registered to Allan W. Kidd of Browstone, Mich.
The plane made the emergency landing late this afternoon, but it was not clear what time. State Police are investigating the incident.

Wow.
If it had landed here, it wouldn't have been able to find space between the cars during rush hour!
Though I suppose they could've moved.  |
