I like what you've said and Chuck has been saying the same thing. For me, it's been a case of sour grapes. Can't have Bill, then forget it. But I genuinely love all things Trek and the whole concept of what makes up Trek. I guess I'll give it a chance after all. I'm just hurt on Bill's behalf, but he doesn't need the likes of me to do his battles for him. He's the great James Tiberius Kirk, of course Whatever happens or doesn't happen in this movie doesn't matter as long as Bill's contributions to the Trek world,i.e. book, tv, and movie industries lives on. There will always be devoted fans ready to snatch up that new book or dvd with him in it. The man has a flair for the written word and a heart of gold that shines out in that smile of his like a supernova. He'll never be forgotten. Ever. |

I must admit that I have been angry at times over the rumours, but all of these rumours have definitely peaked my curiousity. I am so hyped about this film that I can't wait for it to come out. With or without our beloved Bill(hopefully with),and without regard to who stars in the film, I hope that it is a tremendous success. Never fear, Kirkscutie, Star Trek will never die. It has survived for 40 years, despite all of the naysayers. Logic tells us it will undoubtedly out live us all. Best wishes to all, TK[/quote] |

Are we talking about the same thing here?
I've Trekked 40 years, and I don't feel my "treasured past" is being erased in any way. Faith? You know, Trek isn't a organized religion or philosophical dogma to lose "faith" in. Just a TV show. Good, campy, fun, to be sure. But just a show nevertheless. Don't get yourself all worked up over nothing. Life goes on, and so will Mr. Shatner, and you, believe it or not.
I know I will. |

No, I didn't mean it that way, that it was some kind of 'faith'. Yes, I know ST is just a TV show, but a LOT of people believe in Kirk and his methods of dealing with the world, peacefully. That is why I will not boycott the series.
We will always be Bill's loyal fans and it is all of us who make up williamshatner.com, and we must be loyal. I was just proving a point that if people boycott ST, as I've read earlier in this post, then we will only have memories of a once great series instead of the actual show which is being replaced with 'modern' shows, such as the JK Experiment...I got Cable, and my brother and I used to watch ST almost everyday at 6:00-6:30 PM but the JK Experiment is now in that timeslot on channel 175 (G4). You cannot hinder the media or TV from becoming updated.
If you believe that 'your treasured past' is not being erased, that is excellent, because you, my friend, are a dear Trekkie. I just meant that people boycott, then there won't be anyone to pass down the ST knowledge to future generations, and ST is being affected by the new modern shows that are taking over ST timeslots.
However, ST is just a show but could be more: I always liked sitting down to a classic ST show with a cup of chocolate-chip-cookie-dough ice cream...it is still how I spend my days.
I am deeply sorry if I offended anyone. This is a message-board and we are here to debate issues. |

I seriously doubt that you have offended anyone. After a while you get used to cheesing people off. I have It is a forum, after all. People can either take opinions with a grain of salt or they can over-react. Their choice. You'll see that sometimes arguing is unavoidable. You might even like it |

Thank you DOC. I may have seen him in The Wonder Years. But he really isn't that familiar to me. |

| He looks like he'd make a great pool boy for some fading gay movie star. |
