Well, that will hammer the final nail in Star Trek's coffin and J J Abrams will have outdone Rick Berman. I wasn't against other actors playing a young Kirk, Spock, McCoy etc, however surely 17 year old actor Alex Pettyfer would have been better for the role of young Kirk, not hatchet-faced Damon. |

Just going to have to see it when it comes out on DVD. If it bombs it bombs. At least someone wants to keep StarTrek and it's legendary hero alive and well. Even if it's not following Trek canon. I'm not going to dismiss it totally out of hand. I wish they could have used a younger actor, but if that's who they've got their heart set on, oh well. Just as long as Bill gets to be in it. If not, weeellll, they ain't getting my $2.00 rental money |

Doc:
The source of this information is filmspot.com, more specifically, http://www.filmspot.com/search/tag/inde ... %20eleven.
"At least someone wants to keep the hero live and well. I wish they could've used a younger actor. As long as Bill's in it."
Yeah, I TOTALLY agree with you, angel!! I think that EVERYONE wants to keep Star Trek alive because it has a certain nostalgia, and in today's world, we can CERTAINLY use some nostalgia. Personally, I wished myself that they could cast Ewan MacGregor as Kirk because he's a better actor, and really does look like Kirk (as in Big Fish) Maybe they'll give Shatner a cameo appearance, but I've neither heard nor seen anything except what I have posted so far.
Thanks for your interest and comments!! Keep it up!! |

| Sorry, the hyperlink doesn't work, but I had it up before. Just go to filmspot.com and type in Star Trek. A lot of movies should come up...you want the one in 2008. |

Hello Everyone,
I have a hard time believing that Matt Damon is going to be playing Captain Kirk. I saw William Shatner at a Star Trek convention last November in Secaucus, New Jersey. When asked about Matt Damon, Bill said that it was only a rumor, and that Damon wasn't being considered for the role of Kirk. I know that in recent interviews Bill has said that he doesn't know anything about the movie and doesn't feel like he's part of the loop anymore. I don't know what to believe. I don't think that Matt Damon is very well suited for the part. He is too old for one thing. He will be 37 this October. Whoever does play James Kirk will have some mighty big shoes to fill. Best wishes, TK |

| I dunno. I just bagged a copy of "Star Trek Magazine -- Trekking into the 25th Century" and part of StarTrek.com (big letters, oh my!), published in the UK -- www.titanmagazines.com -- scrips -- 1-877-363-1310 Because I'm sure they're gonna slap my hand on this --

Star Trek XI:

filming Fall 2007 -- release Christmas Day 2008

Director: J.J. Abrams (whomever THAT is...)

Cast:

Greg Gunberg -- a regular in J.J. Abrams productions

Damon has said he is "open to taking over as Captain James T. Kirk";
Tom Cruise has denied discussing a cameo;
Daniel Craig (James Bond) has said he'd love a stint
And, James McAvoy flip-flopping on playing a young Scotty.

I can see such value in consulting with the original stars for deeper character development. I think bypassing this avenue would be a great loss for all involved, and the upcoming show/movie might suffer what consequences the original had.

The other thing I don't want -- DON'T please make it just a special effects show. I would really enjoy some tight, involved acting.
