I've had my share of Fs, but exactly what my worst grade was percentage-wise, no idea.

| It's been so many years, I doubt I could find paper records from back then. Maybe, written in a cave in Texas, you'll find some etchings of Robert's Report Card... |

WARNING: Do not do this at your school!
At the start of my second year of high school, I had a class transfer. On this form the boxes where my other 6 classes could be where left blank. I simply filled in all my classes and went to each class. The teacher would sign the form and mark me off on there attendance list. I still went to school, but I had no class to go to. At the end of the 1st quarter I had no grades at all.
Boy, did I get in trouble for that! I had to go to summer school to make up what I had missed. I did graduate on time, but just barely.

| I'm almost positive I flunked this test on this really bad book that I disliked so much that I skimed through all of it. |

| My first upper division EE course at Cal was a disaster. On the first mid-term I got something like a 22 (out of 100) where the median was 40. The instructor, a pompous a**, had the nerve to advise everyone who scored less than 30 to seriously consider changing their major. I almost did, but talked to a few folks a few semesters ahead of me and they told me that the course in question was the EE "weed out" course, and that the "change your major speech" was standard operating procedure. I elected NOT to change my major and graduated two years later. |

I passed high school by one point. I was flunking chemistry and had to meet with the chemistry professor every afternoon for a month or I wouldn't have graduated with my class. We didn't really discuss much chemistry, but the teacher and I had some interesting philosophical discussions about the existance of God. (I showed up for the meetings, at least)...In college, I received the second highest 'A' in my chemistry class and graduated with honors. I went on to earn three college degrees and a masters. The moral of my story is: don't give up and you will achieve what you want. |

| Wow this takes me back. I once wrote a paper so abominable the instructor wouldn't grade it. It just had "See Me" written in bold red letters. Ouch! I was working nights to pay for the college I was attending by day and had robbed Peter to pay Paul one too many times. Sleep deficit will freak you out. |

I failed two tests because of nerves:
1. Ancient History (my favorite subject) ..I just went completely blank. It didn't help that I stayed up late to study. Never did that (pull an "all nighter)") again.
2. Plane geometry( I hate math)..I convinced myself I would fail, so I did, although I could do it in class...
We learn from our mistakes. Just take a deep breath and go on. |

I was involved in our high school "Sing" competition throughout high school. In NYC there are a lot of high schools that participate in this because there's no big money-maker like football teams in the city.
So, "Sing" is a program in which there's a competition between groups in all 4 grades to see which one can come up with the best original 45 minute musical comedy. The competition is held over two nights and brings a lot of money into the school.
By the time I was a Junior I was chosen as director for our show. I was failing both math (Trig I think) and Chemistry. But being Director of Junior Sing came with benefits. With test averages somewhere in the 50's for both subjects I (somehow) passed.
Let me make it clear that I never asked for special treatment and the whole thing scared me enough to buckle down the next year but always left a strange impression on me.
Cheers,
June |
