A somewhat depressing Ghost story
This is a story that really did happen back in the 60s. We had a Halloween play at school one night. My dad drove the family to the play, we had a great time, and when we started back home, we saw a ghost, which crossed the highway. There was a bridge, and the ghost floated from under the bridge, crossed the highway, and then floated across a huge field. My dad stopped the truck, and turned the headlights on the ghost, as it slowly faded away into the darkness of the wheat field, scaring my mother half to death. It was really weird. The thing looked just like a floating sheet. Well, later on,,, about a year later, we found out that it was a highschool prank. Yup,,,, this guy I knew put on a pair of black pants, got a white sheet, and everytime they saw a car coming, he would run across the road. It was a good joke, and it really did look real. You couldn't see his legs in the darkness, because of the black pants he was wearing. What makes this story so depressing to me is, this guy that I knew, (Gary) who played this ghost prank on everyone in that school district, committed suicide about 2 years ago. Isn't that something? When we went to school togeather, I never dreamed he would ever do something like that. He always made everyone laugh. |

| Yep, an intriguing story, Billy. I'm a firm believer in ghosts. My grandmother, who sadly passed away, was very into ghosts and saw a few in her youth. She told me and it wasn't very pleasant what she had to say. She saw her father, her friend and her Uncle Benjamin. If I saw a ghost, I don't know whether i'd be intrigued or scared. |

I posted this story on another board, and I've also told it here once before, but for all the new members who haven't read it, here it is again...
A True story
I'm not saying that I believe in ghost, but there are strange things that really can't be explained. When I was a child I lived on a farm, which had several graves scattered over 460 acres. Most of the graves were unmarked, so we had no idea who occupied them. We lived in a very old house, which was later burned down when our new home was built. My sister always said that she had seen a floating, Bloody sailor's head, which had an evil grin, in the old house. I never really thought it would happen to me, but one night I got a very good scare, which will last me a lifetime. I was somewhere around 6 years of age. We had moved into the new house and it was storming that night. I can remember, there was a rosebush which was beating against my bedroom window. I was lying there with the covers pulled all the way up to my chin. My older brother was sleeping in the bed next to mine. Well, later on that night I was really having trouble getting to sleep, because of the storm which was raging outside. I was watching the rosebush beating against the window, when suddenly the curtains slowly opened all the way up. Then, this dark shadow of a man, about 6 foot tall, crawled right through the window, right into my bedroom. Then he stood straight up, walked around to the foot of my bed, and slowly turned around and looked right at me, I guess to see if I was sleeping. This thing looked just like a person's shadow on a sunny day. I couldn't make out the face, but there's one thing I did do. I yelled, at the top of my lungs, "MOM, DAD, there's something in my room!" Then the tall dark shadow slowly turned around and walked into the closet. My mom and dad rushed into the room, checked out the closet, and nothing was there. Have you ever experienced anything like this? If so, tell your story..... |

Well, Billy, you don't have to believe in ghosts to tell a story about them. At least if you don't look at something in the way someone else does you can see it from an open point of view. |

On the old BBS I posted that I don't believe in ghosts. I still don't, but check out this wierd dream I had last night...
I was in my grandmother's house. She died about three years ago. Anyway, I was going through the closets and rooms of her house, reminiscing, when I felt her presence. I didn't see her but I felt she was there. The presence was getting stronger to the point where I felt as if my body had been taken over. I began to speak and act like her. "Johnny! Johnny! Want some pizza pie?" My wife came in the room and couldn't believe what she was seeing. This is how the dream ended.
I chalk this up as to just me and my overactive imagination, but it does kind of freak me out a bit. Why was I dreaming about her, acting like her, and talking like her? Like I said, I don't believe in ghosts, but I do keep an open mind about their existence. Dreams like this only confuse me about the whole subject. |

AH..A "walk -in" visitation, doesn't make any difference that you were sleeping, that just made it easier on grandma....Just your grandmas' way of saying....
I have a story, I was supposed to put on Nighthawks Halloween Ghost story post on old Board. It's very LONG and detailed. Should I post it in segments? |

| I guess I should be happy it was in a dream, because I don't know how that would have gone over if I would have been awake! Especially if I were at work! |
