During the height of the storm Saturday night, we heard a loud bang, like an explosion, the house shook, and then nothing. Sitting in the dark while it happened didn't make it much fun. I took a personal day today to do some repairs around here, bleach the basement floors, etc. Then Bridget and I ventured out, and found this.....

Good thing the tree fell down the hill instead of sideways or this house would of been minus a living room, and my bedroom.

Looks like we'll have enough firewood for next year..... Wink

WOW!!!!!!

Thank you God that no one was hurt and the house was spared...
I was wondering if you had any damage around your house as the pictures we've been getting here in Illinois on the news have been just jaw dropping....

And it looks like that tree was meant for fire wood...looks like part of it inside was rotten...

I had to go to the hardware store for supplies this afternoon and driving through town was amazing. Water is gone from the center of town, although there's lots of damage. People are canoeing and kayaking on the community soccer fields, and the tennis courts are under 3 feet of water. We have to boil all tap water if we need to use it for drinking or cooking. And it's still raining.

I had to take off work today, as our back door was damaged by something that hit it in the wind and we couldn't open it. At least my car was spared. There were large branches all over the property, especially in the driveway, but no damage to my car, TG.

I'm tired. I can't wait to get to work tomorrow, so I can relax..... Laughing

I am glad the tree did not fall on your house.

I remember when the hurricanes came through Florida a few years ago. One of my parents' neighbors had a tree fall on their home. The young boy living there woke up suddenly during the night and something (or someone) told him to get out. He managed to get himself and everyone else out of the bedrooms and into the other side of the house. When the tree fell, it crushed all four bedrooms where minutes before people had been sleeping.

Wow. Shocked

I'm glad that missed your home, and your family. I'd be checking any other trees for possible damage or rot as well.

I agree with Catt.....I would be wondering myself if one tree had a rot problem would all of them? Is there some one that could check it for you?
