William Shatner Main Discussion - The Shatner Project

For those of you who've been wondering what happened to ShatnerVision; we've gone and taken a real hard look at it and figured out what we liked about the project (and what we didn't like) and came up with a new strategy.

It's called "The Shatner Project" and it's more about Bill's adventures in life; getting the experiences in, getting a dialogue going, getting the cameras to record the viewpoint from Bill's perspective. Liz will be back as well to continue their father/daughter dialogues and we'll be hopefully seeing more family moments (Bill on a child's slide, singing to the whales, etc...)

And yes, it will be interactive and we'll try and get all your questions answered.

When: Wednesday Sept 10th 2008
Where: YouTube.com/WilliamShatner

There will also be a website for the project called TheShatnerProject.com.

Message Board Forum: We will have a second forum here for the Project (and probably a LOT more friends visiting us.)

Our message board will change and we'll get all our Bells and whistles back (including PM's)

Also I think the website is going to change - we're going to get rid of the multiple layers and sections that are rarely used anymore and focus on the Main Page with news and the videos, The Store, The Fan Club and of course the Forums. The timeframe for that is still all up in the air but it should be soon after launch.

I can try to answer whatever questions you may have. If you have a YouTube account please go and friend and subscribe the account: YouTube.com/WilliamShatner

Very interesting, Paul. It sounds like we have an exciting bit of updates set for the very near future. I hope all goes well.

Very Happy

P.S. Hopefully when we get the PM function back and such, nobody will commit such a heinous act as to get the PM function removed again.

Perhaps there may be some questions that Bill would like to ask us. It would make for a less lop-sided conversation.

Sounds like fun.

I hope the charities will still be listed and available. I still think that it is the best way to show appreciation to Bill for all of his years of keeping us entertained. We have an opportunity to show the world that fans are more than just bubblegum teeny bopper groupies and are actually hard working folks who can be very generous (even if we don't have a rolls sitting in the garage Cool ).

I just realized that if this were a Starship and Bill was the captain, then you, Paul would be his First Officer, or Number 1. Fun, isn't it?

Am I the only one brave enough to actually offer some suggestions? Hope I am not perceived as being too forward. I do admit to being a bit outspoken at times. Embarassed Cool

Of course, the biggest question is:

Will we have to rejoin everything? or will we be grandfathered in?

I hope we are grandfathered in . . . I really don't want to lose this date: Joined: Oct 24, 2002. 6 years is a long time on the Internet . . . Twisted Evil

Seriously, though, unless they are going to some unheard of board with a proprietary structure and no means of conversion, I think it's a pretty safe bet that we won't have to re-register. We might have to reset our passwords, but that's a minor price to pay for progress.

Grandfathered is the hope. The upgrade to the new board should hopefully bring in everyone who is registered. The site will be based on a different content management system but I'm not sure if we are going to have folks create accounts for the site other than the board itself.

It should look very similar to the front page we have now with content down the center and navigation menu - less pages and categories but the charity pieces should stay the same.

Also if anyone has any input on what they would like to see in the Shatner Project; let me know by posting here or sending me an emai.

We could have a mock kidnapping of Bill and hold him hostage until folks donated enough to sponsor a horse. Twisted Evil I hear there are some Star Wars storm troopers who are capable of carrying him off the stage. Wink

OK, I know, but its Saturday morning and I am bored. I think I am going to go to the park for a while and stay out of trouble. Laughing Wink

As it turned out, I spent part of Saturday afternoon processing calls for the Stand Up 2 Cancer campaign. I had spent several hours at it during the broadcasts, Friday night.

During the week, I was on call with the Red Cross to process calls in the wake of Hurricane Gustov (not quite as harrowing as Katrina), and we are gearing up for Hanna and Ike (unless I get caught in the middle of Ike Shocked )

If you and Mr. Shatner ever decide to produce a telethon for the HCHS and need someone to help 'man' the phones, well then, I'm your gal. Cool

Are you good at programming a computer to phone interface?

I don't think I'm ready to produce a telethon - I had a hard enough time with a Reality Show. Wink

BTW, I think The Shatner Project will launch on Thursday - not Weds - some last minute editing glitches are holding up the process.

I miss the Jerry Lewis telethons since he went to cable.

I also worked the phones for American Idol Gives Back... talk about b2b calls and lots of money coming in. But, I bet the costs for putting on that sort of event are very costly, to say the least.

I wonder if the Shatner and Friends International would be willing to put up a booth at the HCHS and sell items to raise money for the charity event.

Hey, can't fault a girl for trying. Cool
