As Davros and the Daleks threaten the entire universe, the Doctor's companions join forces. But the prophecy declares that one of them will die...

Image

lot of twists and turns in the ending of Dr Who series 4. The Stolen Earth cliff hanger with the Dr apparently mortally wounded and started re-generating, but at the last moment he transferred the regeneration energy in to his severed hand, so he stayed in his David Tennant incarnation.

Later the hand became a clone of the Dr, using dna from Donna Noble, although this clone was Human, with only one heart, and Donna became half human half Time lord, although she ends up suffering for it and has to have her mind wiped by the Doctor to prevent her from dying, so she forgets meeting the Dr and all her adventures with him. So the Dr ends the series alone again

All of the companions survive , and they all help the doctor to pilot the TARDIS back to their respective homes although there is a somewhat sad goodbye to Rose and Donna. And yes Rose finally gets her man ( after a fashion) as the clone of the Dr stays with her, after all as he tells her, he is human and will grow old, and will not regenerate and he has all the feelings and memories of the Dr and he can be the man she wants him to be, which the "real" Dr can't and he wants to be with her.Rose kisses him as the "real" Dr walks into the Tardis and leaves them both to their new life.

Dr Who will be back in a Christmas 2008 special which heralds the return of the Cyber men.

If anyone is interested enough i might do a DVD competition where these last 2 episodes " The Stolen Earth and Journeys End" would be the prize as well as Dr Who confidential a behind the scenes programme.

Well they had to give everyone, their little bit of limelight didn't they. I Like the idea they they all ( except Jackie Tyler) got a chance to do their bit to fly the Tardis. Wink

I wonder if the new series of Torchwood will mention these Dr Who episodes?.

It all sounds quite exciting. While I hate Martha and Rose, of late the shows writing has improved greatly.
I especially liked "Blink", the Agatha Christie one and the two part "Library" . Realize that here we're behind the UK on episodes but I'd join in if I could.

Last Friday I was all set to see the second part of the "Library" and they preempted it with all day episodes of the Twilight Zone! Sad Sad Not much of a fan of that show, sorry to say. I really was looking forward to seeing if Donna Noble got out of that talking statue thing. And it looks like this coming Friday they're going to be skipping the second installment of the "Library" and showing the next one! Surprised Surprised I sure hope they don't screw up and have me missing the last ones! And I'm not too sure I'm all that crazy about Rose Tyler, too, but I'm glad to hear that she does get her "man" more or less. Half a loaf is better than none at all. Wink Cool Cool

You are only a few episodes behind us,by the sounds of things, and probably by the time i run the competition you would have already seen the last episodes already,Do you have the " Dr Who confidential documentary" shown there as well..?

personally i thought the next episode( for you) "Midnight" was a bit slow and dragged on a bit, not much action, but quite thought provoking and a lot of tension. Then the one after that "Turn Left" is one of those "what if" episodes, where it's all about the companion there's not much of The Doctor in it at all.

Then you are on to the biggies , the series closers,we have just seen over the last 2 weeks .

I've not heard of it nor seen it on the play list of either Sci-Fi or BBCA.

I'll be looking this Friday and Saturday to see which episode they're showing. Thanks for the heads-up.

Possible Dr Who Special November 2008

The 7 Doctors (Suggested Title)
By Terrance Dicks
Rumoured that an extra special story will be written for the 45th anniversary to be broadcast on the 23rd November 2008 starring Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Tom Baker and David Tennant with special appearances by other guest actors (Eccleston?). Alternately this special may appear as a Children in Need extravaganza. With Peter Davison and Tom Baker confirming they would return for a cameo if asked.

No further news on this rumoured "special" at the moment. So i can't say 100% that it will happen.

He has said a few times, he regretted turning down a part ,in "The 5 Doctors back" in 1983. So may be he's mellowed now 25 years later.

His EYES are still so expressive. Now I'll cross my fingers, light a candle, burn some incense and ask the universe to bring him into the episodes you've mentioned, with the MOST lines!! Razz

Sad Sad We're getting sooo old! I remember when he was bouncing around the tv screen, just as spry as can be. I loved his Doctor so much. He had such a Harpo-esk type of acting for his character. He was THE Doctor in my younger days. Sad Sad

Tom Baker ponders 'Doctor Who' return

Tom Baker has admitted that he may be persuaded to make an appearance in the revived series of Doctor Who.

The 74-year-old actor, who played the fourth incarnation of the Time Lord between 1974 and 1981, told Kent News: "Perhaps I might make a guest appearance - perhaps. Providing they ask me nicely, of course."

However, Baker revealed that he has never watched the hit BBC One series on the television: "I don’t actually watch it. I didn’t even watch it when I was in it, for all sorts of reasons... but I do get messages from David Tennant and I have seen him in other things of course. He has been a huge success and I am very pleased about that."

Last year, Baker's successor Peter Davison reprised his role as the Fifth Doctor alongside the show's current star David Tennant in a special Children In Need episode entitled 'Time Crash'.

Just saw "Midnight". I don't know why but they skipped the second part of "Library". Midnight was the most creepiest one so far. It was really scary. I was watching it and my husband complained that it was dragging when the shadow creature kept repeating everyone's words. To me that would be hell. Being stuck in a confined room with a bunch of semi-strangers who are repeating everything I say. I'd go bonkers. For that reason alone I thought this episode was well worth watching. It makes a person really jittery watching this. Cool I was panicking watching how base and immoral these people are when they're trying to save their own skins. They'd actually shove someone out into a dangerous enviroment. That's extremely low. Sad Sad

To use a famous quote; "what a dump". Confused

A huge, humungous, unending piece of tripe was "Midnight" and it served up no more acting ability than bulging eyes in the two main characters. Sad

Why they made this one after such a good streak of top thrillers, is beyond me. Rolling Eyes

Surely (and don't call me Shirley) they can do better than this. Very Happy

Laughing Laughing Can I call you Betty instead? Or Max Klinger? I love it in Mash when Klinger flounces into the swamp and says "What a dump!" and Hawkeye says to BJ that it was his home decorator. My favorite Mash lines of all time. Laughing Laughing
I was impressed with the claustrophic atmosphere, the panic, and the way those two could snap off those lines simultaneously. But, my husband would have to agree with you whole heartedly, Spock1, that it was annoying episode, long drawn out. But to me, it's still creepy because that's what hell would be like to me. The next story you see should be "Turn left", which isn't that bad, except for the fact it's another of those " what if" stories. There's not much of the Doctor in it, it's all about Donna , but it does recap alot of the events right from the "Runaway Bride" right throughout series 4, but from a totally different perspective . Wow. Fantastic clip and it will keep me watching just when "Midnight' seemed to doom my interest.

IYO, how far behind am I ..before I start seeing this...the clip was part 7

Thanks.

Oi! Did they say at the end of the clip that there is a BOOK that covers this....my hearing isn't great and replay didn't help any.

If you are watching the episodes in sequence the order is

Turn Left ( episode 11)
The Stolen Earth ( episode 12 part 1)
Journeys End ( episode 13 part 2)

The clip was the conclusion of "Journeys End" so you should only be 3 episodes behind.

The book documents the many starships and spacestations that the Doctor and his companions have encountered on their travels. Doctor Who historian Justin Richards documents the amazing story of Earth's ventures into space, examines the many alien fleets who have paid Earth a visit, and explores the other starships and spacestations that the Doctor has encountered on his many travels.

So my guess is it's just really a reference book.
