That could be construed as an INVASION

There are an estimated 100,000 people DEAD and a evil regime that doesn`t give a rat`s ass about the untold suffering of their own people but by all means, lets not have an invasion. All that evil needs to triumph is for good men TO DO NOTHING......which seems to be what you are advocating. Am I wrong?

littlestar, if the Myannar regime does not allow aid and relief to reach the people of Burma, MANY MORE ARE GOING TO DIE. IS IT the liberal recipe that the civilized world SHOULD JUST STAND BY and WATCH IT HAPPEN??? As a Kelvan once said, "please articulate".

Morgram, I'd like to see these people helped, but not by force, which could cause more unrest.

A main concern now is disease and getting aid through devastated areas to those in need. All countries should come together and send in the proper people and equipment to clear roads, give medical aid to those in need, and food and shelter to those who need. They also need to find a way to care for the bodies of the deceased that will not lead to more disease. Then these people need long term help to rebuild their homes, businesses, farms, etc.

Too bad most of the world is too caught up in political crap, etc., to help the way they should. Imagine if we could take all the money and effort that has been put into the present presidental campaign and help people who need it.... Confused

But Cat, THE MYANNAR REGIME IS NOT GOING TO ALLOW ANY OF THAT TO HAPPEN.

I know Morgram, and it sucks. My concern is that if the US were to send in forces to give aid, that the regime would most likely retaliate. You could wind up with a full scale military operation that would result in more deaths, injuries, etc. There has to be another way. Perhaps a multi-national group putting pressure on the regime to let help in. Maybe prayer. Maybe both.

So get on an airplane and go to work...or would you rather do nothing also. Put your money where your mouth is.

Cat and Batman have summed it up, quite nicely, for me....

To send ARMED forces in to any Region is considered a Military Action and would stimulate Military Retaliation....and rightfully so.

I choose to send money and water to orgainsations that will find a way to get it in...even if by parachute...running off at the mouth has never helped anyone in need, at least that's what I've found in my Life....

And if this is the course of action that is chosen, what will we tell the people in New Orleans? They weren't good enough for the fleet? N

The myannar tyrants don`t care how many of their people have already died and WILL die...we must! The myannar tyrants have refused to let U.S. planes fly over their country to help. The whole of the burmese people are their opposition. They WANT their opposition to die off! The myannar tyrants are probably celebrating the cyclone. The myannar tyrants WILL NOT allow any help to reach the burmese people WHICH MEANS that many more thousands ARE GOING to die. I cannot shrug my shoulders and be complacent in the face of something like this. SOMEBODY DAMN WELL SHOULD bring down the cold-blooded myannar regime.

No pun intended, but you're outgunned here. Someone has to be the ones to take on the Myanmar regime? Why does it always have to be the U.S? And when we do take on scumbag dictators not everyone is appreciative of the fact. I think our resources are stretched to the limit on trying to deal with the aftermath of Afghanistan and Iraq. We've got Iran looming over us and possibly N. Korea. What those people need are the charities coming their way if we can get them there, not another full blown and impossible war to try involve ourselves in again. Andy Jackson was an absolute sob, but he had a point that the U.S. shouldn't always involve themselves in every foreign conflict.

Yeah, well. I guess it`s just me. I got this funny hang-up. I think the people of Burma are worth saving from slow starvation, disease and death. Anyway, finally, some guts. U.S. officials say they might consider air dropping food and medicine to the beleaguered people of Burma whether the tyrants like it or not.
