Post subject: What is it with ABC and younger viewers anyways?

Boston Legal (ABC)

Viewers (all are season to date): 9.9 million.

Prognosis: The show's ratings are modest (though dependably stable), and its viewers are older than ABC would like. Renewal may hinge on whether producer David E. Kelley agrees to cut ABC's price tag.

SOS fact: Boston boosters were most often ages 40 to 60.

Fan: The show's "great blend of witty dialogue, interesting ensemble and smartly written episodes are gold," raves Delana Vickers of Winston-Salem, N.C.

Hasn't anyone noticed that the issues being tackled in the Boston Legal show are the social issues that will need to be conquered if we are going to achieve peace in the world? True, it is a make-believe TV series, but hey, look at all the techno-stuff that came out of the make-believe Star Trek series. Why can't BL make up solutions to the social problems? Who knows where it would lead us!

And as for us old folks who happen to enjoy a good, mature show, don't sell us out to the young folks just yet. ABC, are you listening? Cool

true enough, although my disposable income seems to go mostly towards my kids... (and my garden)...

and Eddie... my Jack Russell Terrier who is the most spoiled of them all

and, oh yeah, my husband, but it doesn't matter if I end up buying him Ralph Lauren or Walmart... he'll wear either to mow the lawn...

One of the few things I take pride in is trying to learn about the issues that affect us today. Like I said in another thread, I don't get to see Boston Legal very much, but I commend them for raising awareness every week! I hope when people watch the show and hear some of the issues that Alan and co. raise get curious enough to do some research, e.g., Alan taking on the Supreme Court.

Does the show get enough press? I guess a young person hearing of a show about lawyers might not think about giving it a chance. Gotta spread the word about the issues and the wonderful performances more!

You do have a point there. This past weekend, I had to reign in the kid in me a bit although it was fun pretending to dance to Randy Travis' music. I'm just glad that our tables were near the back so no one noticed us too much. Cool

I'm so happy that y'all enjoyed yourself so much over there! It's a fantasy of mine to be there some day, but I don't see it happening any time soon. By the time I get the moolah to go Bill may decide to take it easy and rest on his laurels. I hope that's not for a long long time. Cool

Hot Peppers: yes, we will plant them on planting weekend. Here in Montreal, we are zone 5(b) so May 24th we plant the vegetable garden.

As for Eddie, he's allergic to EVERYTHING. His dogfood is made from trout on account he's allergic to meat protein.

His "cookie" is vegetarian.

But his absolute favourite toys are squeaky toys and his soccer ball.

He's quite the soccer player.

At age 2 1/2 he's still very much a puppy.
