I'm in absolute perfect health. I've never felt better in my life.
Somebody made up an absolutely foolish story.

I know I've had a couple phone calls today about some English site posting it and quoting the National Enquirer as it's credible source. Rolling Eyes

Glad to hear you are well. The star trek movie team is coming up with all these excuses why you are not in the new movie. They keep saying you would not do a cameo. I really wish you would put it back on these guys that you would be open to anything. The film will be great with you in it. I always remember James Caan in godfather 2 where in 5 minutes he had a memorable seen. Don't let them blame you!!! You belong in this with Leonard.

I would consider it a most excellent demonstration of Bill`s continuing good health if he went on Larry King Live and finally...FINALLY blasted paramount for doing everything in their power to see to it that he never plays Kirk again. I understand that Bill is not outraged, merely disappointed, that he has been excluded from trek XI, but boy would I like to see some of that old time-tested Captain Kirk fire from Bill on Larry King.

Unfortunately, I think there is something even more sinister at play here. If some folks can bring about enough distrust in the media when it comes to information, then when something for real happens, no one will be paying any attention.

Perhaps these folks are forgetting the age old story of Chicken Little.

One of these days there will be a major bomb heading our way, folks will be screaming on the airways and no one will be listening.

Outrageous! They did the same thing a couple months ago to Paul Newman, said he had life saving surgery, and it was 100% false. What is this garbage? If you're an actor over 75 they think they can get away with this? Bill ought to sue.

That would be harsh! The reporter responded promptly and courteously to my heads-up.

It's common for entertainment reporters to just copy-and-paste stories from newswire services. Unfortunately, some outlets tend not to do much (if any) fact-checking. In this case the big culprit is BANG Media International (a.k.a BANG Show Biz), which is spreading the National Enquirer story.

Yet Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is saying he did on January 25 ?

My father-in-law had a hip replacement surgery. He had to be very careful afterwards for a while. He could not bend over and had to be care where he sat down. Plus, he gave up skiing. I am sure that if he were into horse back riding, he would be giving that up also.

The fact that the news was never on any of the main news stations leads me to conclude that the story was false. If there were any truth to it at all, I would think the TV media shows would have picked it up... TMZ, Entertainment Tonight and others.

Ok, so I'm driving in the car, listening to 94.1 out of San Diego, and they say....coming up later, William Shatner who will talk about the story regarding his surgery and how he almost died. I go into a panic, as this is the first I have heard anything, and get to my computer as fast I can to see what is going on. What a relief to find out it wasn't true. I have been a fan of Star Trek since the 60's when I was a little girl and have never seen a more handsome man then William Shatner. even today you set my heart a flutter. I used to work for a PI (and had some Star Trek items on my desk) and met a man who had done some security work for you and he asked me why I didn't have an autographed photo of you....so he contacted your office and got me one and it is now one of my most prized possessions. Anyway, I am so glad you are doing well and are healthy, and I loved it when you took on Denny Crane, the character is a hoot and I love the show and you!

What you're really saying, Bill, is that you're really okay? No truth whatsoever to any of these internet posts (two of which I've seen and they're identical). Don't they constitute defamation or something? Is there anything legally that you can do to stop "media" from doing stuff like that? I mean, we're talking confidential medical info here, whether you've been hospitalized or not. It's supposed to be CONFIDENTIAL! I don't want to know about it because it's none of my beeswax and I have too much respect for you to inquire about something like that. At any rate, if you insist you're okay, then I'll believe you. Maybe I'll get to see you during the next Shatnerweekend, it's affordable, I've got the time, but I have another commitment in L.A. during the time frame of the weekend. We'll see.
