Take a look

These should have been the "real" Generations closing scenes Kirk survived. With a little homage, back to the rock climbing scenes, in Star Trek 5 Wink Wink

Surprised Surprised Shocked Shocked *GASP*!!!!!!! I never knew about this alternate ending! They sacrificed Kirk for the almighty dollar! They knew that people would flock to see a great icon killed off because it was so shocking to make room for TNG! Morgram was right! Dirty low-down sobs Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad They didn't have to do that! Now I'm mad! Evil or Very Mad And all this time I thought that the one ending was the only choice available. That's really craptacular! Dadgum it all! Hell yes that would work to bring him back. Proof is right there before my eyes!
Sorry I'm shouting, but I'm totally shocked right now. I'll calm down pretty soon. Sorry.

So although this is a re-edited mock up of an "alternate ending ", which is not real, something like this proves ,that Paramount could bring Kirk, back if they really wanted to. Cool

Well don't worry i know it looks good enough to be real, and it could pass as genuine however it was made up from scenes from the movie, and deleted scenes from the DVD mixed and re edited together . In saying that i think it shows what can be done, with a little patience, and some basic editing. If you look closly you will see some scenes, don't exactly match, but as most"ordinary" people don't have the equipment, or facilities that a big movie company has, ( Like Paramount), and have to rely on home equipment, i think it turned out well. But if an amateur can do such a good job, well i'm sure Paramount could do something 100 times better, and bring Kirk back if they wanted to.

Laughing Cool Lol..It sure fooled the hell out of me! Had me mad as a hornet. It truly is a good piece of work. I'm not good at spotting discrepancies in films so I was really fooled. For a minute there I thought Bill was really sold up the river in the worst possible way, more so than he already has been. Boy! I've got to get a hold of my temper Laughing Laughing Laughing

LOL , i think it's a way to show that in sci fi anything is possible. You remember those old t.v /movie shows , like Buster Crabbe in Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers..?. Where they had a "cliffhanger", at the end of each episode, to make you want to see what happened in the next . To me Generations could be something like that, where we think the hero is dead but of course there is a last minuite escape, so kirks "death" we are shown, does not always have to be what really happened, it could just be one possibility.

So i say why not have an "alternate" ending where Kirk lives.

I remember my mom telling me about those. That they always left you hanging for next week, especially the short movies in the 40's and 50's when everyone went to see the sci-fi or the cowboy serials. They were the soap operas of that time. I'm all for the alternate ending. Puts me out of my silly misery Laughing Laughing Cool For the longest time I've been content watching what was churned out with the TNG movies. Even if they pretty much missed the mark most of the time. I was calm, cool, and collect. Then all of a sudden rumors start flying about Bill and this idiotic movie and I'm flying off the handle. I calm down all's well and then "BAM" this 'alternate' gets me all weirded out again. I can't wait until this movie is finally at the box office so I can finally stop getting all twisted over it. It just ain't right Laughing Laughing Laughing Cool Cool

Of course I`m right! I`m always right. They knocked off Kirk because he was too politically incorrect for the 23rd century. A mid-20th century kinda guy like ol` Kirk going around unabashedly taking notice of...women! Can`t have anything like that in the 23rd century. The 23rd century is reserved for sci-fi writers and futurists warping around the universe in their unisex jammies. They`ve been peddling that brave new world/bright vision of the future crap since the days of the fan mags of the seventies and misrepresenting that malarkey as the strengths of the original series. It was bull then it is bull now. The REAL strengths of old star trek was the acting, the sets, the writing, the directors and cameramen and those wonderful Van Der Veer F/X as well as the guiding auspices of guys who REALLY DID know what they were doing like Robert H. Justman and William Finnegan.

Fabulous!!!

Someone needs to send this to Paul so he can pass it on to Bill! Very Happy

That has just become my new ending for Generations. If I can ever manage it, I think I will download my movie, and then tack this ending on. So much better than the one we were fed. HUZZAH!!!

Loved the line "24th century isn't so hard..." lol!

Did you guys catch part II?

I think I recognized the rock climbing scene from The Final Frontier. It all seemed to work.

It would have been interesting to get Kirk's reactions to the newer, bigger, Enterprise.

I did origionally put a link to part 2, but on thinking about it, ( although part 2 is great as well), there was only Bills voice on it.I think maybe it would have been just that bit better if we had actually seen Kirk again right at the end, kind of "handing over the baton"So some people might have been dissapointed but all the same, still a better "ending" (imo) than the origional one.

yes thats true, and although Bill has written about how Kirk came back, in his book The Return. I just thought this would be, a little something, to explain a possible alternate "time line", or alternate "reality", that could have happened at the end of ,Generations. So that possibly it could be worked into a future movie, by Paramount . An idea is,it could all be done in "flashbacks"with an old Kirk telling the story to explain,in a way similar to "old" Spock in the new movie.

Regardless of what we mere fans think, nothing can change the ending. Of a movie already part of Trek history.

Even if we wish really, really hard Smile If Bill cant do anything to change the ending, how can we.

Well Paramount have already messed with Trek "history" alot . The whole of "Enterprise" is the prime example. No mention of Captain Archer, or Enterprise NX1 being "the first," in any previous Star Trek series or movies, prior to a quick blink and you miss it reference in Star Trek Nemesis .So if they are going to change reality/time lines, then why not do it right ,to "fix" something it seems now that certain people, involved in Generations admit was a mistake. As i have already said it could be an "alternate time line/reality" so strictly not part of the Trek history we know.Perhaps even involve Q in the story, and we find out it was another of his "trials of humanity" and another of his tests for Picard, and Kirk did survive ?

Or perhaps,If there is a sequil to this new movie, that is going to follow on, then why couldn't a "Kirk survived Generations" story be worked in?

to quote a phrase " There are always possibilities" Wink

I agree this story line could be. But not in the Generations Movie .(that has gone)

It would have to be in a completly different movie as a follow up. Say Star Trek Wink Wink XI.

Goodnight my friends I hope thanksgiving was a peaceful day

Part I is probably the best Generations alternate ending based solely on Generations footage. Part II is dumb, since the Enterprise-E was not developed by Paramount until First Contact. I also felt the best ending would have been Kirk and Soran fighting, and Soran falls and dies, while Kirk falls or is the one swept back up in the Nexus. He then re-emerges on the Enterprise-B, to Scotty's surprise.

I really do feel that Shatner's appearance could be written in quite easily. In a very similar aspect as Generations, old Spock may get into a situation where the only way out, to save the Federation or whatever, is it channel Kirk, old Kirk that is. To do so, he changes the timeline. Boom, Shatner appears and helps to save the day, and he and Spock return happily to some point in the future. You don't need to stick Shatner where he wasn't written in the first place, all you have to do is maybe write a different ending where the ends are the same but the means change.

I think Mr. Nimoy needs to be reminded that the lure of the dollar ressurected Spock. Why can't the devotion of the fans do the same for Kirk?

After all in sci fi any thing is possible, just as Spock was brought back in ST3 , and Ripley brought back in Alien 4,, why not Kirk.
