William Shatner Main Discussion - ShatnerVision comes to an end...for now

Post subject: ShatnerVision comes to an end...for now
Just a quick note to say that the ShatnerVision project comes to an end this Saturday. I'm sure it will be back in some form or another on another website. The ShatnerVision channel on LiveVideo will remain up for at least a while.

Why not host the collection from this site in one form or another?
At the very least have them accessible from a single sticky thread, with some lead in info for each.

I'm sure it will come back on another site at some point - it's too unique and different not to be picked up elsewhere.

It's not for lack of Bill or myself wanting it to continue. Live Video made the decision to pull the plug.

If you want you can contact Live Video and tell them how disappointed you are.

Cant we incorporate it on to this site.

Why on earth would they pull the plug on such a popular member .

Well I for one hope we get it back, I just loved the chats with Lisabeth.

OH NO!

Say it ain't so!

HUH!! It was kinda my inference that both LiveVideo & ShatnerVision originated about the same point in time & LiveVideo was hoping to draw upon the ShatnerVision popularity to make a go of it for themselves. I'm probably mistaken, I guess, on this point tho....

Wonder why they'd "pull the plug?" ShatnerVision was good PR for LiveVideo, I would have imagined.

Dear Paul,

Shatner vision was a huge highlight from fandom perspective. It was certainly a treat for all of us who admire Mr. Shatner's unbridled passion for life and his seemingly bottomless pit of energy.

I would think that Dana over at boston_legal.org would be delighted to host the Shatnervision clips. Although I can't speak for her directly, I know that she appreciates very much input from the members at her website and particularly anything to do with cast off the set.

Keep up the phenomenal job your doing - I for one have a deep appreciation for everything you provide to us.

virtually, yours,

Hi,

that are really BAD news. I can’t understand the decision of Live Video. ShatnerVision is one of the best sides they have and without it and maybe 10 other sides I never have any reason to visit Live Video.

Thanks Paul, Bill and Liz! I hope you will be back soon – on another side that appreciates ShatnerVision more than Live Video does it.

I did. I contacted LiveVideo. I was very polite. I kept a copy of the note I sent them if anyone wants to see it to get some inspiration and do a better job of it.

I thought perhaps Mr. Shatner himself was ready to move on to something else until I read this post by Paul (Hi, Paul!).

The only thing LiveVideo had going for it besides ShatnerVision was its exemplary sound management; wonderful audio capability! Far superior to YouTube. When and if you establish ShatnerVision somewhere else [more hospitable] that might be something to add to the server 'decision' list.

or perhaps Mr. Shatner will call in a few notes and build his OWN video server with extraordinary audio and video.

I don't suppose at this point it's necessary to say I have enjoyed every one of ShatnerVision's videos, and thank you so much for wishing me a happy birthday this year, on LiveVideo. I pulled a screenshot. I'll never forget it and it was very kind of you!

Just thought i would pop in and thank the folks who have joined the campaign on LiveVideo.

I'm one of the more vocal members of the site and i'm guessing that LiveVideo was probably expecting some kind of video from me about the closure of the ShatnerVision channel, it all depends on the reavtion of the LiveVideo community though and wether there will be neough voices to force LV to keep the channel open.

As for Video Sharing sites...if the worse comes to the worse and the server hosting williamshatner.com can handle it, you can always make your own video sharing site....screw LiveVideo and Youtube.

STG (the star trek gaming site i run) has our own version of YouTube, its all done on our server...

My computer was down for awhile, and couldn't comment here, but have to say that I joined LiveVideo ONLY because of ShatnerVision...Yes, there are some on the website that are CCC (per Doc) but not unusual, they seem to be everywhere. Most LiveVidians, because of the latest news, are posting videos like crazy to KEEP ShatnerVision. And Victor 1st has taken 'hit's' before, but is a trekkie thru and thru from what I've gathered, and has been extremely helpful to many on LiveVideo offering help and knowledge when asked (me included).

For LiveVideo's information, if ShatnerVision is let go, how many others will also leave???

Crap! Now I'm missing out on a dreamy voice? D'oh! Laughing Cool I've just got to get the sound back in the old 'puter. Might crash it trying to, but it'll be worth it. I missed so much of the ShatnerLive because of the damned sound going out. And now I'm not going to be seeing any of it. LOL! I have the ShatnerVision videos safe, sound and backed up. The ShatnerFiles are there it's just as I said...it's like a high rise building without walls, all the layers are one on top of another in a hopeless pile that try as I have I have not been successful in restoring.

But all hope is not lost...for you can still get them and possibly put them back into some semblance of order.

WHAT??

It's ShatnerFiles.....it's the origin of concept of ShatnerVision....it's a necessity of life on www.williamshatner.com.

Anyway us peons can help to salvage it all? I'm good at cut & paste.

Is that all Paul has been able to salvage from ShatnerFiles, cause the link he posted certainly ain't even a fraction of it all?

I thought it would be a fun way to end it. Smile
Still no word but my fingers are still crossed.

Well if push comes to shove and they do not all disapear, I have most of the ShatnerVision videos on my site. There may be one or two that I missed, but the greater majority of them are there.

If they pull the plug and it is ok with everyone, you are more than welcome to use my LiveVideo site. Heck, the only thing on there is ShatnerVision plus a few from BBS posters.

I may need some help in fixing it up as I am not that gifted when it comes to website designs.

Of course, Bill would be more than welcome to come visit all of us at our respective sites and post his videos. Very Happy

OK, Maybe that sounded a bit desparate. But as someone once said, "Desparate times calls for desparate measures."

I can't believe that Livevideo is pulling the plug on Shatnervision. Shatnervision is the only reason that I opened a Livevideo account. Well, it has been fun while it lasted. I have really enjoyed watching all of the videos. Bill's enthusiasm for life is contagious. I loved hearing all of his wonderful stories and his philosophies on life. The interaction with Bill and Liz was priceless. Thank you so much Bill and Liz for sharing part of your lives with us. Paul, you did a wonderful job with Shatnervision. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. Maybe there is still a chance. Afterall, there are always possibilites.
