William Shatner was born to Joseph and Ann Shatner on this day back in 1931. That makes him 71, which is kind of hard to believe. Recently, when Bill appeared on the Larry King show and Larry told him he looked amazing, Bill said, "I feel amazing...I feel like I'm 37."

On Sunday, March 17th, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy made an appearance at a local music store called FYE in Century City, California and signed copies of Mind Meld: Secrets Behind the Voyage of a Lifetime. For nearly two hours, they posed, they signed, they smiled...for the press...for the fans...for the store personnel...for the security guards...for the staff. |

We thought you might like to get to know Bill's lovely wife Elizabeth a little better. This article first appeared in the March issue of our fan club newsletter, The Best of Times, and we're pleased to share it with you this week.
Elizabeth Shatner was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, the youngest of five children. She spent most of her childhood in Indiana, her family moving there when she was quite young.

Since he was a young child, William Shatner has had a deep love of horses. Through the years, his dreams have been realized through his involvement with American Saddlebreds and Quarter Horses as an owner, breeder and competitor. Bill currently competes in both saddleseat and reining events, two entirely different riding disciplines. |

When we took over Bill's fan club last year, one of the first things that he wondered was whether we would be willing to continue putting together an annual gathering of fans called a "Weekend." We were delighted to continue the tradition.
Bill thought it would be a great idea to hold the event in conjunction with the Hollywood Charity Horse Show. |

For the love of children, of horses, of giving back…who knows exactly what drives William Shatner year after year to dedicate himself to such a big event as the Hollywood Charity Horse Show. What we do know is that he is committed to making the show the best it can be each and every year.
While the horse show runs from Thursday through Sunday, the main activities occur on Saturday afternoon and evening.

We had the privilege of attending the first private screening of "Groom Lake" at Raleigh Studios on May 6th. As Bill mentioned in his column this week, the film is "basically a love story, but with a science fiction twist."
Bill came up with the idea for "Groom Lake" a couple of years ago and enlisted the aid of screenwriter Maurice Hurley to write the script. Then, in the fall of 2000, he directed the film on location in the small desert town of Bisbee, Arizona. |

Bill loves sports and he enjoys competing, so it's really no surprise that he's really looking forward to heading up the "largest paintball event in history" this coming August 31st. The event will be held in a paintball venue called Challenge Park Xtreme just outside of Chicago, Illinois and is expected to draw thousands of players. The fact that Bill has never played paintball before doesn't deter his enthusiasm one bit! He's certain that he'll get some practice in before the big day.
