Most of you know of my great fondness for my friend, Leonard Nimoy. It will be my great pleasure to be working with him this weekend on two commercials.
He?s become quite a droll fellow and I love him very much. Whenever we find ourselves together, we love to talk about the past, present and future.
Mind you, he?s quite forgetful these days so I often have to prod him to remember things. Seriously, he?s my wonderful companion through time and I value his presence in my life more than I can say. It plans to be a memorable weekend. |

If you?ve followed my comings and goings over the years, you know it?s that time of year again. That?s right ? The Hollywood Charity Horse Show is on May 1st at the Equestrian Center in Los Angeles. I started the charity one year after I saw a wonderful group of people using horses to work with disabled kids. I was so moved by the joy on the kids? faces that I started bawling. Ever since that moment, I decided to try and help ? the event has now become The Hollywood Charity Horse Show. |

By now most of you know how much I love to experience life and all it has to offer. Most of the activities I love to do involve nature and/or animals. Skiing, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, swimming ? I love it all. And I love the natural world that surrounds me. |

Of course, Valentine?s Day is special to many people. For me, not only is it a holiday that celebrates love but it is my anniversary as well. My lovely wife, Elizabeth, and I tied the knot on Valentine?s Day so it holds a special place in my heart. Every year I can celebrate the wonderful moment again and also rejoice in the happiness of so many others as well. So I wish all of you a very wonderful Valentine?s Day and all the love in the world. |

2004 has started out with a bang ? or should I say, a splash. Elizabeth and I traveled to the beautiful and exotic Maldives early in the month. I thought I lived in the lap of luxury before the trip but there I learned what luxury really means. We stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel and experienced an absolutely phenomenal time.

This year, as I have for many years, I spent the holidays with my family. I was surrounded by my daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren on our yearly vacation. This year we had a new edition, my granddaughter, Kaya, who is a year and a half. Of course, she?s brilliant. She amused and amazed us all with her powers of deduction, agility, and uncanny beauty. I?m sure it?s all genetic. Out of the 48 chromosomes, I?m sure I have claim to 47 of them. |

Seeking Excellence |

While digesting my turkey dinner, I had time to reflect on this past year and what it has meant for me. While I was in Montreal a couple of weeks ago, I was given what I thought was an award for lifetime achievement. It was, in fact, an award for excellence, not lifetime achievement. What?s the problem? You might ask. Excellence is excellent, isn?t it? Well, I found it hard. Lifetime achievement seems like everyone should get one since getting through life is an achievement. But excellence? You have to feel excellent, I thought, to deserve such an award. And I always feel like I?m on the verge of excellence without quite achieving it. This feeling was as true for me this year as it has been in the past. I always feel like I?m reaching out for my very best.
In fact, I?m writing this to you from Nashville where I am attempting excellence in music. I feel like I?m almost there, but I?ll have to wait for all of you to tell me if I have reached excellence or not. So it?s the search for excellence that I?m concerned about post Thanksgiving.
So why don?t you write in about what kind of excellence YOU are searching for this coming year. I?m interested in what you?re trying to achieve and be better at in your lives. To me, the search for excellence is always just beyond our grasp, like the proverbial carrot on a stick. But it?s still fun to try, isn?t it?
Come to the board and let's discuss this.

We had the time of our lives at Spplat Attack Two ? and I?m back to tell the tale. From the very beginning, the weather threatened to ruin everything (the very same weather that delayed the U.S. Open). But for the two precious days of the event, it didn?t rain. And on Sunday before the game, it was breezy, beautiful, cool weather. A good omen for all of us. |

Summer is a ?hang loose? time for many people, but mine looks to be busy as ever. I?m was in Toronto recently, doing a series of commercials for Kelloggs, which is a lot of fun and looks like will result in some fairly amusing spots. While I was there I put together a syndicated radio show and tried to get together another show for divers that hunt for sunken treasure. There are other projects in the works, too ? including one at Sci Fi channel, tentatively titled ?Inferno of Hate.? At some point this month, I plan to take a breather, take a swim, barbeque, have a cool lemonade or two. I just can?t figure out exactly when! |
