March 13, 1982,<font color="000066">.</font>T.J.
Hooker premiered on ABC with a pilot called
The Protectors. It was later picked up as a
series starring William Shatner, Adrian Zmed,
James Darren and Heather Locklear. It ran in
primetime for four seasons before its historic
move to CBS Late Night for the final 1985-86
season.</font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">Entertainment
Industry trade paper Daily Variety wrote of
the second season opener, "The presence
of William Shatner in the title role of T.J.
Hooker catapults this by-the-numbers police
show into first-class fare."</font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">
During
the show's run, both William Shatner and Leonard
Nimoy had the chance to direct, and Leonard
guest-starred in an episode. Lisabeth even wrote
one of the scripts!</font>
<p align="left"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2" color="#FFFFFF">
Even though T.J. Hooker is not currently airing
in syndication and it is not available on video,
it still remains popular. There's even an extensive
fan-based T.J.
Hooker website online headed up by John
Kannenberg. The site features weekly polls,
a comprehensive episode guide, photos, sound
clips and a campaign to bring the show back
on the air, dubbed the NO HOOKER NO PEACE campaign.
The site is well worth the visit.</font>

In an interesting twist of fate, Bill uses his
expertise portraying a TV cop in the upcoming
Warner Brothers feature film, Showtime.
He plays himself in the film, and he's called
upon to give advice to a veteran police officer
(Robert De Niro) and a rookie cop (Eddie Murphy)
who are cast in a reality-based TV program.
The movie also stars Rene Russo. It opens in
theaters nationwide on March 15, 2002.</font>
