Dear Bill,

Congratulations on 40 years of Star Trek! You, the rest of the cast, and all the creative forces behind the original series have made Star Trek the phenomenon it is today, and it is still loved by millions. I have always been a fan, and I always will be! Your statement is very optimistic, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Star Trek. Enjoy the celebration!

Brian

Is that why some of the scenery in The Original Series look like they had been made by play-school children?

Happy Birthday to my "still" favourite show on TV!
And a big thank-you to all that made it possible.

To my complete surprise I found myself watching the very first episode I had ever seen, in the same Month (May) 40 years ago! "What Are Little Girls Made Of" what serendipity is that!

Happy 40th people. Best wishes, [espcially to William aka Captain Kirk] - from my corner of the night sky to yours!

And ... finally after waiting for what seems like years, New Zealand screened the famous episodes of "The Practice" starring our hero! How I laughed! Soooo great!

Keep those "Boston Legal" shows a-coming! And big smiles for James Spader! He is delightful, delicious, dedicated and a darling! xx

Looking forward to the remastered Star Trek in this 40th anniversary year. I loved all the originals, but like me they looked great in '66-'69, but would look better with a face lift today!

Hello Bill,
Although I was a bit to young to have seen you in the original series I became a trek fan when I saw the first movie and have been hooked ever since. ( I confess I have watched your series since though ). Congrats on being part of TV folklore and I hope you can get down here to australia and share some of those memories with us fans downunder.
Cheers and God Bless,
Darren Dunn.

Mr. Shatner,
I grew up on a farm in far northern new york, at a time when, although Star Trek was on the air waves, our black and white Zenith just couldn't reach out and grab the "future." I remember dreaming about our own solar system as much as the far reaches of the stars. Your Star Trek was great, but the recent Enterprise was lazy. I think the time is right for a back to basics program. If the program focused on the Star Fleet Academy, kids today could associate with the age group and explore the science of our own solar system, yet retain the best of trek. Keep the timing past Next Generation, and holo decks could bring back Kirk to teach or demonstrate. Borrow the great ability of Smallville to weave in contemporary music and I think you would have a winner that would have entertainment and great social value. A Boot camp of the future would be an attractive watch. The "Cadets" are at that learning age that could inspire as much as the original cast did for me. This dairy and horse (harness racing) farm boy went on to go into the Air Force and work for NASA. My own boys are starved for a good plot that they can identify with. I want them to learn and be motivated.

You can call it a child if you want. It's non of my business. What was James Doohan like? I know He died about 3 years ago, I just want to know. As an original and longtime fan of all things Trek I have a great story to share:
Back in the "90,s I attended my 30th convention an Tucson AZ. to finally see
and meet "The Man" Himslf..William Shatner. Now I had seen him at the 20th and 25th annual cons. However at this one in Tucson he was signing and meeting fans. I thought back to the days when I was 6,7, yrs ld and I would sneak out of bed and hide behind my dad's Big chair to watch Star Trek(my father was a big fan). My dad always knew I was there and let me watch. Anyway here I was 30 years later, meeting my childhood hero. He was engaging funny and took the time to talk to all of us as we waited to meet him. After that was all said and done he announced to 10,000 + fans that Leonard Nimoy would be picking him up in a Limo in the underground parking garage and did we want to be a part of a "practical joke". So he marched ALL of us down to the garage. I was lucky enough to be right behind him and for some reason he picked me and a few othersto be the "Leaders of the Pack". We were to hide in groups My group was with him the whole time, and when the limo showed up he was to go out alone and when he said "I have a suprise for you Leanord" We were to march out like a bunch of Zombies and Mob the limo. Not too close but a few of us wee allowed to get very close. So there's the limo..I still can't believe all of us were not detected.(I'm sure security was crapping in their pants). But we were all good trekkers and did as our Captain commanded. We waited..He went up to the limo..The cue was given and my pack , being the closest moved in in true Zombie fashion,as others broke out from EVERYWHERE..I wasn't sure if Mr. Nimoy was going to have a stoke or poop in his pants..He was shocked and then truly amused and even took the time to give Mr. Shatner a good talking too, saying he was pretty sure he would never be able to top this, then he took the time to speak to the rabid group of laughing Zombies, saying he was truly touched and honoered and a little fightened. Right before Mr. Shatner got into the limo, for some reason he turned to me and a few others who were right there exchanged hugs and handshakes, thanking us for a job well done and thanked us for helping him with the most fun he'd had at a convention in a long time.
Now that's class.
I look forward to every episode of Raw Nerve, reruns and forthcoming movies and events. Thank You William Shatner for giving me my most memorable convention experience ever!
