"Mrs Major Tom" by K.I.A. (released on the "Adieu, Shinjuku Zulu" and "DXLR8 - Downtempo Best Of" albums) continues the Major Tom story, but told from the perspective from the wife left at home. The song is a beautiful & sad ballad... is this the song he is covering? (Hear it on iTunes)...

some lyrics from the song:

"You were so far gone
Right was wrong, up was down
By going still further on
You hoped to come around...
It was light-years long, dear husband Tom.
At last, back you've come...
Yet still, you're gone"

I am really happy that you're doing both versions of "Major Tom", the original, "Space Oddity", and the Peter Schilling "remake". Should be really interesting to hear!

Bill Shatner is a man of many talents! While I like him as Captain Kirk and will catch "Star Trek" nywhere from hotels with satellite(stayed in on a free day and watched a marathon on dish tv portland last time i was there on business) to VHS tapes sitting in my closet, I think he is at his best in person. Whether it is awards shows, in interviews, theater, or concert, he has a very infectious personality. Any word on concert dates yet? I'll look around the site and see what I can find.

I saw the clip of Mr. Shatner singing Iron Man by Sabbath on the local 11 O'Clock News. After the clip played, the newscasters actually laughed at him, which put me out a bit as I have been a fan since his Twilight Zone days.
The truth is, while I disagree with the disrespect shown to Mr. Shatner after hearing the clip, I must say William Shatner and Black Sabbath DO NOT GO WELL TOGETHER!!!
Mr. Shatner, I have a close family member who is a celebrity, he lives in the house Ronald Reagan built for Jane Wyman. I know often people will tell you ONLY what they think you want to hear and if you think you sound good singing Black Sabbath, they will ALL tell you how great you sound. Sir, you sound horrible. PLEASE do NOT release your new album if Iron Man is indicative of the quality of the rest of the album.
Please take this in the manner it is meant.
